A young mum who died after being stabbed while pushing a pram down the street has been pictured on her wedding day. Kulsuma Akter, 27, from Oldham, died after being attacked on Westgate in Bradford shortly after 3pm on Saturday.
She was rushed to hospital for treatment but sadly passed away a short time later. A police manhunt was launched to catch the suspect in the hours that followed, the Mirror reports.
Kulsuma’s husband Habibur Masum was arrested on Tuesday morning on suspicion of murder and has since been charged. The 25-year-old was detained in the Aylesbury area – around 170 miles away from where Kulsuma died.
He has since made a preliminary appearance at Bradford Magistrate’s Court and been remanded in custody. Masum stood in the glass-fronted dock as he was told by District Judge Alex Boyd he will appear again at Bradford Crown Court on Friday.
Dressed in a grey sweatshirt and flanked by three security guards, he spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address, during the six-minute long hearing.

West Yorkshire Police has referred itself to the Independent Office of Police Conduct because officers had contact with Ms Akter before her death, a force spokesperson has previously confirmed.
Kulsuma’s grieving family paid emotional tribute to her earlier this week. Her brother said: “We are heartbroken and completely devastated. We are not even able to speak and have been crying all the time since this happened.
“We had to call our mother in Bangladesh to tell her the news. Can you imagine what this was like for us? I can’t believe my sister is dead. I’m sorry, I can’t speak any more.'”
Ms Akter’s 53-year-old cousin, Aftab Miah, added: “She was a lovely girl and had a great personality. She was always smiling and liked to make people laugh.
“We will miss her a lot and her death has hit us all really hard. But married life became quite difficult for her.”
