Having created the beautiful floral displays for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding reception, Willow Crossley should be enjoying her worldwide fame.
Instead, the society florist has revealed that she is turning her back on weddings altogether – and she appears to blame pushy brides.
‘I started out doing quite a lot of weddings and they’re very emotional,’ she explains.
‘Also, with a wedding, you have to rein it in a bit and you have to do what the bride wants. You have to stick to the bride’s vision. So now I do fewer weddings.’
Willow, 42, whose romantic, foraged style has graced the smartest events from royal parties to society soirees, recalls one disastrous meeting: ‘I remember sitting with a bride and groom, and this man said, “I really don’t know why you’re here. I hate flowers.” And his poor wife-to-be was crying next to him, saying, “I love flowers – they’re my best bit.”’

The A-list florist Willow Crossley, 42, has revealed that she is turning her back on weddings altogether

According to one partygoer, Willow was personally asked by the Sussexes to create bespoke flower arrangements for their evening wedding reception
Willow does not mention her work for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, for whom she also created the displays for their son Prince Archie’s christening.
While Philippa Craddock dressed St George’s Chapel, Windsor, for their wedding in 2018, the couple employed Willow to dress the glass marquee at Frogmore House, where they held their reception.
Willow later hit the headlines when she was asked by the Sussexes to create their wreath for Prince Philip’s funeral in 2021.
They were the only members of the Royal Family to issue a Press release about their floral tribute, leading to criticism.
Willow says she’s now focusing on what she loves most, telling The Chromologist podcast, ‘big installations and growing my shop – and maybe working on a festival’.
