The Newport Charter Yacht Show is gearing up to connect luxury charter yachts with industry professionals from June 23-26 at Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard.
As the Northeast’s only trade event of its kind, the show features 18 motor and sailing vessels, giving brokers and agents a chance to explore high-end charter options in a more relaxed setting.
Sarah Egger, charter manager for Fraser Yachts, points out that the show’s intimate atmosphere allows brokers to spend quality time getting to know the boats and crews, unlike larger, more hectic charter shows.
“The experience at Newport Charter Yacht Show is more intimate and more relaxed than some of the world’s larger charter shows, which can have over 100 yachts spread out over several different marinas,” said Egger. “Brokers have quality time to get to know the boats and crew, instead of jumping on and off and not remembering what they saw that day.”
Fraser is bringing two motor yachts to the event, including the 170-foot Lady B, the show’s largest vessel. Lady B’s decision to stay in New England for the summer offers a great opportunity for brokers looking for top-tier charters in the area.
The show isn’t just about the boats – it also highlights the skills of captains and crews through competitions like the Best Charter Yacht Chef contest, tablescaping, and cocktail-making challenges.
Veronica Brown, the show’s director, explains that it’s a chance for industry professionals to catch up on what’s new in the charter world, from fresh yachts to recent updates and crew changes.
“The Show is primarily about learning what is new in the charter industry – which yachts are new to the scene, which have had updates or refits, and which ones might have changed their captains, chefs or crews,” Brown said.
Holly Huffstetler, charter broker and fleet manager at Edmiston, is excited about the 169-foot ACTA, praising its features and crew. She believes it’s perfect for cruising New England’s beautiful coastline.
According to Huffstetler, “New England is such a beautiful destination, and ACTA is the ideal yacht for cruising this area,” said Huffstetler. Among the yacht’s features are generous interior spaces, a “magical” master cabin, a shallow draft (for her size) and stabilizers for when she’s anchored. “She is beyond immaculate, and the crew are just lovely,” said Huffstetler. “Captain Les is a true charter captain, having come from some very successful charter programs. He is knowledgeable, experienced, and knows how to pull all the stops for charter guests.”
The event also includes educational seminars hosted by the American Yacht Charter Association, covering topics like chartering software, cybersecurity, and destination highlights.
After the show wraps up, the 12th Annual Newport Yacht Rendezvous on June 27 will raise funds for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County, featuring yacht tours, dinner, and dancing.
