Rolls-Royce will introduce a new 12-cylinder version of its mtu Series 2000 engine, the 12V2000 M96Z, beginning in 2026. The company said the engine is intended for use in fast yachts, patrol vessels, police boats, and sportfishing boats.

The new model increases output to 2,191 hp, up from the previous 1,975 hp rating of the 12V2000 M96X. The company noted the updated version maintains similar weight and dimensions, while delivering a higher power density.

Rolls-Royce said the new engine modifications include a reinforced crankcase, strengthened cylinder heads, and new pistons. The engine features an upgraded turbocharger system designed to improve acceleration and reduce exhaust emissions, the company said.

Rolls Royce said the 12V2000 M96Z is certified to meet IMO II and EPA Tier 3 recreational emission standards and is approved for operation using hydrotreated vegetable oil renewable diesel. The engine will be available to vessel operators beginning in 2026.
