Everything is ready for the Tre Golfi Sailing Week 2025, which officially starts tomorrow with the ORC Mediterranean Championship, the first of three major events scheduled. Organized by the Circolo del Remo e della Vela Italia with the support of Rolex Official Timepiece, Loro Piana, and numerous technical and institutional partners, the Championship will welcome 30 boats in the picturesque Marina Piccola of Sorrento, which this year again hosts both the ORC fleet and the Maxi fleet the following week. The Mediterranean Championship will take place from May 8 to 10 with buoy races in the waters between Sorrento and Capri, valid as the National Championship of the Mid and Lower Tyrrhenian and will serve as a general rehearsal for the much-anticipated ORC World Championship 2026, which will be held on this same racing field. The event is organized by CRV Italia in collaboration with the Yacht Club Italiano of Genoa, the Reale Yacht Club Canottieri Savoia of Naples, the IMA, the ORC, the FIV, the UVAI, and with the support of North Sails, Wally Yachts, Banca Patrimoni Sella, Ferrarelle, Ottogas, Deloitte, Italia Yachts, Le Axidie, Caffè Borbone, Schenker and Consorzio Prosecco DOC. “We are excited to host the ORC Mediterranean Championship and the National Area Championship again,” said Maurizio Pavesi, Vice President of CRV Italia and ORC Councilor. “The races between Sorrento and Capri always represent a high-level technical challenge and this year, with the approach of the 2026 World Championship, they become a key step for all crews.” “Once again Sorrento is happy to host the ORC Mediterranean Championship and the European Maxi Championship,” said the mayor of Sorrento Massimo Coppola. “Our community will be ready for the event, demonstrating those organizational and hospitality characteristics that have always distinguished us to continue projecting the Sorrento peninsula on the international stage and to elevate the Sorrento brand.” There are 30 registered boats from France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and the United Kingdom. Among the confirmed participants are prominent names such as Lisa R, the Ker 46 winner of the 68th Tre Golfi Regatta in 2023, the brand-new wallyrocket51 Team Django with Vasco Vascotto on tactics, the Farr 40 Mascalzone Latino by Vincenzo Onorato, as well as renowned boats like Selene Alifax, Arkas Sailing Team, and Musica. Expectations are high for three days of spectacular races in the crystal-clear waters of the Sorrento Peninsula. The title of ORC Mediterranean Champion will be awarded to the boat that achieves the best score in its class in proportion to the number of entries, also taking into account the result in the Tre Golfi Regatta, valid as an offshore trial. The titles of National Champion of the Mid and Lower Tyrrhenian will instead be attributed to the winners of each class who thus qualify for the Italian Absolute Offshore Championship, scheduled for late June in Capo d’Orlando. The Italian Yacht Club Cup will also be awarded to the club with the most winners in the various classes. This year again, the Regatta Village, under the ancient headquarters of the Sorrento peninsula of CRV Italia, will be the meeting point for the sailing community: every day breakfast on the quay offered by Caffè Borbone and on return pasta party offered by North Sails. On Thursday, May 8, a special appointment at 7:30 PM with the Crew Party and DJ set open to all crews.
