The richest man in the world brought his beautfiul yacht to Galway three years ago, showing that even the super wealthy can’t turn down the chance for a good trad sesh in a pub or a stroll along Shop Street.
Bernard Arnault, who is worth $233 billion or €207 billion, took a visit to the city of the Tribes in 2021 during the pandemic.
The Frenchman is the CEO of the company Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, or just LVMH, which includes around 75 luxury brands under about 60 different subsidiaries, cementing himself as one of the world’s wealthiest business moguls.

His yacht certainly looks luxurious anyway.
While the likes of Jeff Bezos have massive ‘megayachts’ several stories high with helipads and dozens of rooms, Bernard’s yacht looks sleeker, more classy and understated.

He does have his own megayacht, but decided to leave it at home in 2021.
One social media user joked that Bernard was forced to bring the yacht with him to Galway because “he couldn’t afford the rent” and was staying in it overnight.
Another joked that he must have brought the whole family out to Supermac’s.
It does beg the question what the richest man in the world spends his time doing in Galway city when he’s probably more used to being in Dubai or downtown Manhattan.
He might have given the 5-star Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Estate a visit or popped into the Michelin star Aniar restaurant on Dominick Street.
Either way, next time he comes to Galway its worth asking if he’ll pay your rent for the rest of the year.
