A multimillion-pound yacht has been attracting admiring glances after mooring in Wick Bay.

The 53-metre Drumbeat swapped its usual hot-spots in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean to spend some time off the coast of sunny Caithness.

It provided a distant backdrop to the second National Fishing Memorial Day service held at the Seafarers Memorial at Wick’s Braehead on Sunday afternoon.

Drumbeat was built by Alloy Yachts in 2002, with a major refit in 2022, and sails under the flag of Cayman Islands. Eleven guests can be accommodated, in five cabins, and it has a crew of 10.

In 2023 the yacht was reportedly listed for sale by French-based Group Atalante for 22 million euros, equivalent to about £18.8m now.

It can be chartered for 210,000 euros a week, or around £177,500. Groupe Atalante describes Drumbeat as “an extremely fast and comfortable cruising yacht”.

According to YachtCharterFleet, Drumbeat’s main cruising regions include Cannes, St Tropez and Sardinia during the summer season and Antigua, the Bahamas and St Barts in winter.
