Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree for a rainforest-edge wedding reception

If you like the idea of a Singapore wedding that doesn’t really feel like the city, this new rainforest-edge spot is one to keep in mind. The resort sits up by the nature parks in the north, so the backdrop is lakes, greenery and treetops rather than city buzz.

On the practical side, it’s set up for both big and small days. The Meranti Ballroom – a pillarless space that can host up to 300 guests – takes care of the full banquet crowd. For a more intimate pre-banquet affair, there’s a rooftop deck with reservoir views, perfect for around 50 guests enjoying relaxed cocktails before the celebration begins.

Planning is straightforward with Chinese or Western set menus, per-table or per-person pricing and minimum guest numbers. There’s an optional solemnisation package too, with the basics already covered – floral arch, aisle flowers, Tiffany chairs and sound system. That means you’re not juggling ten different vendors!

A lot of the fiddly details are bundled in: menu tasting, free-flow soft drinks with options to add wine and beer, invitation cards, cake model, favours, floral arrangements and an LED screen for the inevitable photo montage. A suite stay with breakfast and an adjoining bridal room is included as well, which helps on the getting-ready front.

One fun extra is early access to the neighbouring wildlife parks for guided tours and photo sessions. And if you’re not in the mood to build a Pinterest board from scratch, there are ready-made décor looks that you can add on. Themes include Enchanted Garden, Timeless Elegance and Rainforest Romance, just to name a few.

With its elegant interiors, attentive service and carefully crafted menus, Empress offers the perfect setting for a celebration filled with joy, laughter and unforgettable moments.”

A client’s testimonial

“We had our wedding reception at Empress with fewer than 100 people in May. It’s perfect if you’re looking for a venue that accommodates small weddings. The food was excellent, and the minor changes we suggested after the food tasting were taken into consideration. It was also super easy to communicate with the team. Even though we live in the UK and our time zones only briefly overlap, we always received a quick response. The flowers and decoration on the day were great. Plus, I didn’t have to worry about any set-up, so it was truly hassle-free.” – Jessica V

Capacity: Up to 180 seated and 270 standing
Cost: From $7,500 for exclusive use of the indoor space

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) – click for the answers!

What types of wedding venues are available in Singapore?

Singapore offers a wide range of wedding venues including hotel ballrooms, rooftop spaces, garden and outdoor venues, beachfront locations, heritage buildings and intimate banquet rooms suitable for various wedding styles and guest sizes.

How much does a wedding venue in Singapore typically cost?

Wedding venue costs vary based on location, day of the week, guest count and inclusions. Hotel ballrooms and premium spaces tend to cost more, especially on weekends, while off-peak times or weekday weddings may offer better pricing. Always request a detailed quote to understand inclusions.

Can I hold both my ceremony and reception at the same venue?

Yes – many venues in Singapore offer package options that include both ceremony and reception spaces. Some hotels and event spaces will set up different rooms or adjacent areas so you can have seamless transitions throughout your wedding day.

What should I consider when choosing a wedding venue?

Key factors include:

  • Capacity and seating layout
  • Budget and inclusions
  • Catering options and menu flexibility
  • Accessibility and parking
  • Styling restrictions and vendor policies
  • Location convenience for guests

Do wedding venues in Singapore provide catering?

Most venue options, especially hotels and banquet halls, offer inhouse catering with set wedding menus. Some venues allow external caterers with prior approval, though additional fees may apply.

How far in advance should I book a wedding venue in Singapore?

Popular venues can book out 6 to 12 months in advance (or more, for peak wedding months). It’s best to start your search early and secure your date with a deposit once you’ve shortlisted your top choices.

Are outdoor wedding venues available in Singapore?

Yes – Singapore has beautiful outdoor options including gardens, rooftops and waterfront spaces. Do check if the venue has a covered backup plan in case of rain, especially for outdoor weddings.

Can venues help with wedding planning or vendors?

Many venues partner with experienced wedding planners, florists, photographers and DJs and may offer recommended vendor lists. Some even provide full planning services as part of their packages.

Are there venues suited for small or micro weddings?

Absolutely – Singapore has many venues designed for intimate celebrations and “micro weddings”, including private dining rooms, boutique event spaces, and small garden areas perfect for up to around 50 guests.

What permits do I need for a wedding in Singapore?

For legal marriage ceremonies, you’ll need to register your marriage with the Registry of Marriages (ROM). For venue events, some outdoor public spaces may require event permits – check with your planner or venue coordinator.
