St John Ambulance, Sheffield and Rotherham network, has partnered with Notts Supadogs Flyball Club to deliver vital first aid training to its members, helping ensure both people and their canine companions are safer during training and competition.
Notts Supadogs, a competitive flyball club based in Retford, provides training for dogs of all sizes.
To make sure they are prepared for emergencies, the club recently invested in a defibrillator and sought professional first aid training for its team.
In response, St John Ambulance volunteers Hazel Thompson and Sean Starbuck delivered a tailored community first aid session at the Sherwood Ranger in Carlton-in-Lindrick.

The session aimed to equip club members with essential lifesaving skills, building confidence to respond effectively in emergency situations.
Leanne Rodgers from Notts Supadogs Flyball Club said: “Thank you so much to Hazel and Sean from St John Ambulance for providing a few of the team with a first aid session.
“The session was relaxed, informal but packed with knowledge that hopefully we’ll never need to use
“Also we’d like to thank the Sherwood Ranger for their hospitality, a fabulous function room for all occasions ”

The training session covered key first aid principles and practical techniques, reinforcing the value of ‘being prepared’ in active community groups.
Hazel Thompson, community first aider and trainer with St John Ambulance, added: “It’s fantastic to see community organisations like Notts Supadogs taking proactive steps to keep their members safe.
“Having the confidence to act in an emergency can make a real difference, and we were delighted to support the team with this training.”
St John Ambulance continues to work with local groups and organisations across the region to deliver accessible first aid education, helping to create safer communities.
