Meet the boarder collies protecting Canada’s World Cup training pitch

by R.Donald

Gareth Williams, originally from Basingstoke, and his dogs have a very special role in making sure that the World Cup fixtures go ahead as planned.

He runs Border Control Bird Dogs, a specialised geese management company, in Toronto, Canada which scares off Canada Geese, who can cause a lot of damage to the pristine pitches needed for the football tournament.

His two dogs protect Centennial Park, a training ground fit for the World Cup for visiting national teams including Croatia.
