Accor Group Signs New Fairmont Resort in Uttarakhand

by R.Donald

Royal Orchid Hotels Ltd. (ROHL) has expanded its premium Iconiqa Collection with the signing of Laxminarayan Palace Resort in Vadodara under a revenue-sharing agreement through its subsidiary, Royal Orchid Goa Private Limited. The move reinforces the hospitality group’s asset-light expansion strategy while strengthening its portfolio of upscale destination hotels across India.

The addition marks another milestone in the evolution of the Iconiqa Collection, which brings together distinctive hospitality properties recognised for their architectural character, cultural significance and destination-led experiences. Rather than following a standardised brand format, the collection focuses on hotels that offer unique identities rooted in their locations.

Located near the iconic Laxmi Vilas Palace in Vadodara, Laxminarayan Palace Resort draws inspiration from royal palace architecture and Gujarat’s cultural heritage. The resort has been designed to cater to leisure travellers, weddings, corporate events and social celebrations through a combination of luxury accommodation, event venues and lifestyle amenities.

The property features 106 rooms and suites across its Palace Wing and Heritage Wing, with interiors showcasing traditional Thikri artwork, carved woodwork, heritage-inspired décor and antique elements. Modern amenities include high-speed Wi-Fi, smart entertainment systems, premium bath amenities and personalised guest services.

A key highlight of the resort is its extensive event infrastructure, comprising six indoor venues, landscaped lawns, courtyards and a grand ballroom designed with antique jharokhas, hand-painted ceilings and crystal chandeliers. The venue is positioned to host destination weddings, receptions, corporate conferences and large-scale social events.

Beyond accommodation and events, the resort offers a range of wellness and recreational facilities, including a swimming pool, spa, salon, yoga studio and fitness centre. Guests can also choose from three distinct dining concepts Mayur Pankh, serving royal Indian cuisine; Cafe Nirvaan, an alfresco café offering gourmet snacks and beverages; and Little Italy, a vegetarian Italian restaurant.

Chander K. Baljee, Chairman & Managing Director, Royal Orchid Hotels Ltd., said, “The Iconiqa Collection represents our vision of bringing together exceptional hotels that stand apart because of their individuality and the experiences they create. Laxminarayan Palace Resort is a remarkable addition to this portfolio. Its palace-inspired architecture, expansive celebration spaces, refined hospitality, and deep connection to Vadodara’s cultural identity make it far more than a hotel it is a destination in itself. As we continue to expand across India, our focus remains on creating hospitality experiences that are authentic, differentiated, and memorable for every guest.”

Arjun Baljee, President, Royal Orchid Hotels Ltd., added, “Every hotel within the Iconiqa Collection is chosen because it offers something truly distinctive. The Collection is not defined by a shared design philosophy but by a shared commitment to exceptional experiences rooted in the identity of each destination. Laxminarayan Palace Resort perfectly reflects this vision. Its unique architecture, expansive event infrastructure, immersive culinary offerings, and strong connection to Vadodara’s heritage make it an ideal addition to the Collection. We believe it will redefine hospitality in the city while offering guests a destination that is equally compelling for celebrations, leisure, business, and everyday experiences.”

The latest signing reflects Royal Orchid Hotels’ continued focus on expanding through management and revenue sharing partnerships while strengthening its presence in the upscale hospitality segment. By adding destination-led properties to the Iconiqa Collection, the company aims to cater to the growing demand for experiential travel, luxury stays and celebration-focused hospitality across India.
