GX Superyachts, a brand of hybrid boatbuilder Greenline Yachts, has announced the launch of the first unit from its flagship GX42 yacht model, now christened Merinos.
The 41.8-metre new build hit the water at Turkish shipyard SES Yachts in Istanbul, where she was constructed, weeks ahead of her highly anticipated world debut at the 2026 Monaco Yacht Show.
The model was first unveiled during the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show as the first in a planned series of yachts ranging from 24 to 56 metres. Her sporty superstructure and “family-minded” interiors were designed by Marco Casali, founder of Too Design, while her hull and naval architecture were developed by Francesco Rogantin, founder of NAMES studio.

A defining feature of the GX42 is the raised pilothouse (RPH), which provides ample space for a larger owner’s suite on the main deck, complete with a private foredeck terrace, a walk-in wardrobe, a private office and an en suite bathroom. Encased in walnut wood panelling and white leather and lacquer, her interiors can comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests across five cabins, plus four dedicated cabins for up to seven crew members.
By positioning the owner’s suite on the main deck, the designer has provided plentiful space for a larger VIP suite with a private fold-down balcony to port, alongside three additional guest cabins offering flexible arrangements, including optional Pullman berths.
Up on the sundeck, teak decking creates a foundation for sofas, tables and a Jacuzzi, while a spacious stern beach club features fold-down side wings.
On the technical side, Merinos boasts an advanced serial hybrid propulsion system, extensive integrated solar arrays and a large-capacity lithium battery bank, which serves to reduce emissions while delivering a quieter cruising experience. The hull also ensures up to 48 hours of “silent” anchorage while reducing overall onboard electrical consumption by up to 45 per cent.

Seeing the first GX42 enter the water proves that this vision has become reality. We are now looking forward to presenting her to the world at the Monaco Yacht Show, where the journey first began.”
Powered by two MAN D2862 diesel engines and two 200 kW electric motors, the GX42 is expected to reach up to 14 knots and a maximum speed of 17 knots. In electric-only mode, she is expected to achieve a cruising speed of up to six knots, subject to sea trials.
The launch follows a significant leadership change at GX Superyachts. In December 2025, the shipyard appointed Maurizio Magri as its new chief commercial officer and member of the board. Outside of the GX42, his main responsibilities include the development of the new GX38 Voyager and projects such as the GX34.
