After more than ten years testing and reviewing beauty products, I’ve gone through more CeraVe formulas than I can even count. Years later, they still impress me, consistently delivering results that often rival much pricier skincare. The skin renewing eye cream was one of the first products to truly win me over, soothing and softening my 41-year-old skin in a noticeable way. That experience naturally made me curious about the brand’s latest anti-ageing releases and eager to see if they could match the high bar I’d already experienced.
CeraVe is developed alongside dermatologists, and its loved for its straightforward, practical approach to skincare. The formulas are simple yet results-driven, with ingredients that are easy to understand and a clear focus on maintaining a strong, balanced skin barrier. Each product contains a blend of three essential ceramides, which help lock in moisture and protect the skin from daily environmental stressors.
The brand’s newest releases – a retinol serum and a peptide cream – aim to firm the skin while smoothing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Here’s my honest take after testing both.

How I tested
I spent three weeks testing CeraVe’s skin renewing retinol serum and peptide cream. As a busy mum with dehydrated and sensitive skin (which can look dull in winter, especially), I am always looking for straightforward skincare solutions that smooth and brighten without causing any irritation. Since turning 40, I’m also keen to find affordable products that offer a rejuvenating effect and radiance for long-term use. You can find out more about my full testing criteria at the end of this article.
