Natalie Bassingthwaighte and fiance Pip Loth hint at wedding plans as they celebrate one year engagement anniversary

Aussie star Natalie Bassingthwaighte and fiance Pip Loth have been engaged for a year now, but if their latest social media post is anything to go by, there hasn’t been much time for wedding planning.

In a special Instagram post celebrating one year since Bass, 50, proposed to Loth in front of Niagara Falls, Pip joked that “maybe this year, we will plan a wedding”.

Bass came out as queer in 2023 after making her romance with non-binary partner Loth public – a significant shift for the star following a long dating history with men.

After two years of dating, Bass and Loth got engaged and one year on, Loth celebrated the special relationship milestone with a public tribute to the Rogue Traders lead singer.

“One year ago, in the midst of a whirlwind adventure in New York City, you surprised me with a trip to Niagara Falls for a weekend of incredible experiences and it was there that you asked me the most surprising question that there was simply no other answer to but a wholehearted, emphatic yes,” Loth wrote.

“This past year has been filled with joy, laughter, wins, celebrations, many hours on FaceTime, moving boxes and so, so much love. You are my person. I am so very grateful. Maybe this year, we will plan a wedding.”

In the comment section, Bass replied: “Awe baby! You make me a better person every day! Your generosity of spirit, kind heart and pure love shines bright. I am so lucky you said yes! Let’s do this life together.”

While it seems the pair haven’t gotten around to planning their nuptials, there hasn’t been much time considering the jam-packed year they’ve had.

In the 12 months since their engagement, Bass has released a personal autobiography Love Like This: A Memoir, starred in Waitress: The Musical and faced its abrupt cancellation and reunited with her Rogue Traders bandmates for a 20th anniversary tour.

Bass and Loth met behind the scenes while working on the 2021 Australian production of the musical Jagged Little Pill. Bass was the lead character while Loth served as part of the stage management crew.

In her memoir, Bass revealed how her and Loth’s working relationship developed into a romantic connection she didn’t see coming at the time.

In June, Bass revealed to nine.com.au that while she has a wedding to plan her focus is on building a life with Loth on their newly purchased patch of land.

“We were talking about [the wedding] the other day and we’re like, should we do it next year? But we’ve just bought some land!” Bass revealed.

“The biggest picture for us right now is to build our home and make it just ours, which we haven’t had the opportunity to do yet.”

The couple placed a deposit for a block of land in northern NSW and hope to start building their home in April 2027.

Bass joked: “I’ve been married before I was like, I’m happy with a picnic.”

Though with it being Loth’s first marriage and Bass’ first time in a queer relationship she thought it was “incredibly important” to celebrate properly.
