Meta officially confirmed that Connect 2026 will take place September 23-24 in San Francisco, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s cryptic teaser indicating the company plans major announcements around smart glasses, AI-powered hardware, and competing directly with Apple’s wearable dominance.
The CEO shared teaser images on Instagram featuring emoji pictures of sunglasses together with phrases such as “AI updates,” “demos,” “better wifi,” and “special guests.”
The second picture showed Zuckerberg holding a prototype of smart glasses with other similar devices shown on the table nearby. The post sparked several rumours among tech entuaists suggesting that the tech giant is going to launch multiple devices at once.
The emoji for sunglasses, together with pictures of devices, confirms one think that Meta is set to launch the new versions of Ray-Ban Meta glasses, which would be having prescription lenses. Previously it was reported that Meta was working on a version of glasses powered by AI technology.
Unlike other companies that are relying on the popularity of VR headsets in the coming years, Meta is betting on the continuous innovation of their smart glasses using features that would be useful for every users including the ones with prescription lenses.
Another gadget being developed by Meta that has generated a buzz in the tech market is the Malibu 2 watch that is expected to compete with Apple’s smartwatch. The gadget will feature like health tracking and Meta AI.
Meta has confirmed that the Quest 4 VR headset is still under development, but few details have been revealed.
