15 years of learning and over 450,000 km
Jaume Josa’s journey with electric vehicles began more than a decade ago, when Nissan introduced the Leaf in 2011. Since then, he has never looked back at combustion. With a professional background in R&D in chemistry, Josa switched from laboratories to the outreach of electric mobility, becoming AUVE’s delegate in Lleida.
He ironically recalls that the first Leafs had limited range and that after 40,000 or 60,000 km “the car was almost in intensive care.” The contrast with today is brutal: modern batteries feature intelligent management and cooling that extend their lifespan.
The Tesla Model 3 and drama-free trips
Since 2019, Jaume has been driving a Tesla Model 3, reserved years ago and enthusiastically received. With this car, he has made long routes through Spain and Europe, including trips up to northern Germany. He explains that he plans only two or three stops of 10 to 20 minutes to charge and have a coffee, a habit change he no longer sees as inconvenient.

Despite the notable increase in charging points in Spain, with more than 55,000, Jaume Josa laments that many do not work or are damaged. Arriving at a point and finding it out of service or with cut cables is a source of frustration for drivers.
The improvement with the implementation of fast chargers and technologies like “plug and charge,” which eliminates the need for apps, is tangible but there is still a way to go.
