    • Luxurious

    • Delivers on results

A few years ago, I started to notice unwanted changes in my skin from hyperpigmentation and acne scars due to frequent breakouts and dryness. This prompted me to experiment with different products from various brands in an attempt to make my skin clearer and more hydrated. Enter Beauty Pie, which sells luxury skincare for less for those who enroll in its membership.

Beauty Pie has been a big hit since it launched—it’s garnered over 400,000 followers on Instagram alone. I decided to give its Superdrops Brightening Niacinamide (10%) a try to help brighten my skin and even out my skin tone, along with its Traceless UVA/UVB SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen + Primer to help protect my skin from sun damage. I implemented both products into my skincare routine for the past month—here are my thoughts.

Beauty Pie offers luxurious beauty products at a fraction of the cost for its members.

Beauty Pie is a beauty brand that first launched in 2016. It sells high-end beauty products, setting itself apart from its competitors as one of the few direct-to-consumer companies in the beauty industry. Beauty Pie partners with over 50 beauty labs, fragrance houses, and leading experts worldwide to sell products for a fraction of their usual price by getting rid of the middlemen, allowing it to deliver high-quality products for much less.

Beauty Pie sells an array of beauty products including skincare, makeup, haircare, and fragrances, but in order to take advantage of its low prices, you must become a member.

Members get to take advantage of Beauty Pie’s member-only pricing and benefit from free shipping on orders over $50. You’ll have the option of either signing up for a monthly membership for $10 per month or an annual membership for $59 (which breaks down to $4.95 per month). If you choose the monthly option, you can enjoy a 60-day free trial that can be canceled at any time.

How I tested Beauty Pie

I incorporated the Superdrops Brightening Niacinamide (10%) and the Traceless UVA/UVB SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen + Primer into my skincare routine for around a month. After washing and drying my face, I applied five drops of the Superdrops, followed by my favorite snail mucin, moisturizer, and skin oil.

As a remote worker, I don’t go outside every day, so I didn’t use the sunscreen as frequently as the Superdrops. I applied the sunscreen to my face four to five times per week about 15 to 20 minutes before going outside. I made sure to wait at least 30 minutes after completing my skincare routine before putting on sunscreen to allow time for the products to set.

After applying the Superdrops, I immediately noticed how bright my skin looked (right) compared to its dullness before (left).

The Superdrops brightened my skin

The Superdrops Brightening Niacinamide (10%) were my favorite of the two Beauty Pie products I tried. The serum is designed to brighten, smoothen, and refresh the skin. After about four weeks, it should begin to even out the skin tone and reduce breakouts. I definitely noticed a change in my skin after testing—it appeared brighter and more glowy than before, and even upon first use, I noticed that the drops made my face look reenergized and more awake.

My biggest skin concerns are acne scars and uneven skin tone, which is the main reason I chose to try out the Superdrops. Beauty Pie claims that at least 80 percent of testers of the Superdrops began seeing results after about four weeks, which was accurate for me. I used the serum for just over four weeks, and by the end of the month, I noticed by dark spots beginning to fade and my skin tone evening out.

So far I’m impressed with what they’ve been able to accomplish after a month of use, and will continue using the drops in hopes of seeing more dramatic results.

The sunscreen is moisturizing

What I loved most about the Traceless UVA/UVB SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen + Primer was how moisturizing it was. I’ve always struggled with extremely dry skin which worsens in the winter due to colder temperatures. This sunscreen felt super lightweight on my face and hydrated my skin without making it feel greasy. It’s infused with Argan Oil, niacinamide, and Indian Beech Seed Extract that helped give my skin the extra hydration and softness it needed.

The sunscreen is a great makeup primer

I don’t wear makeup often, but the few times that I did while testing Beauty Pie’s sunscreen, I was impressed at how great of a primer it was. It acted as a convenient two-in-one sunscreen and primer, helping my makeup to go on smoother and keeping my skin protected throughout the day. Since the sunscreen is so lightweight, it made my makeup feel less heavy and cakey on my skin.

What I didn’t like about Beauty Pie

Beauty Pie’s sunscreen dulled my skin time after each use (right) compared to how glowy it was after using the Superdrops and other products in my routine (left).

The sunscreen dulled my skin tone

While the sunscreen was hydrating, I did notice that it made my complexion appear a bit duller than it did before applying it, lessening the glow of the Superdrops and the other products in my skincare routine. Overall, I didn’t feel as if the sunscreen amplified my skin tone, which was a bit disappointing.

As someone with a deeper skin tone, it’s always been a struggle to find a sunscreen that complements my skin and doesn’t leave a white cast. While I didn’t experience a white cast with Beauty Pie’s sunscreen, I still prefer sunscreen specifically designed for melanated skin, like the Black Girl Sunscreen, which has been my go-to SPF for years, and gives my deep skin tone an incredible glow that other sunscreens haven’t come close to providing.

Beauty Pie’s membership allows you to score high-end beauty products for a fraction of the price.

Yes, but only with a Beauty Pie membership

Overall, I was impressed with Beauty Pie’s products—they’re luxurious and deliver on the results they promise, especially the Superdrops. While I enjoyed testing Beauty Pie, the products don’t come cheap without a membership, so I highly recommend signing up in order to save big.

If you use the code REVIEWED10 at checkout, you can score $10 off the annual membership through December 31. If you’re still unsure if Beauty Pie is right for you, consider enrolling in the monthly membership and taking advantage of the 60-day free trial.
