About 6:35 a.m. Monday, June 1, Big Rapids police officers responded to Rogers Jewelers, 114 S. Michigan Ave., after a passerby reported the front glass had been broken. Officers arrived and found several items missing, police said.

A news release from the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety said an investigation led to the identification of a juvenile. When interviewed about the case about 8:10 p.m., police said the juvenile fled on foot. The pursuit ended in the Taco Bell parking lot.

“The juvenile was apprehended and is facing multiple charges including, breaking and entering, possessing stolen property, and resisting and obstructing,” the news release stated.

One officer was injured during the pursuit. Mecosta County EMS took the officer to Corewell Health Big Rapids Hospital for treatment, and the officer has since been released.
