Emerald Beauty Carlisle is located on Lowther Street in Carlisle’s city centre and is owned by Charrisa Highmore, who opened the salon in 2009. 

Emerald Beauty specialises in all things beauty from microblading and acrylics to waxing and tinting and marked the decade and a half in business on Tuesday, July 16. 

After reaching the milestone, Charrisa was on hand to reflect on her time in business and thank her clientele for their unrelenting support.

She said: “It feels a bit surreal celebrating 15 years in business, I don’t know where the time has gone, it’s absolutely flown by.

“I love my job and thoroughly enjoy seeing my clients every few weeks to catch up and put the world to rights.

“We’ve formed friendships and a level of trust over the years where we can confide in each other and just pick up from where we left off at each appointment.

“I value each and every one of them.”

For Charissa, being in the beauty business provides her with an opportunity to get to know her customers and during her 15 years in Carlisle she has been able to share special moments with her clientele.

She said: “Favourite memories would have to be when my clients have told me their big news whether it be a pregnancy, proposals, adoption, or a new job, I can’t help but be invested and get so excited for them.

“It fills me with joy when good things come their way.”

During its 15 years in business, Charissa and Emerald Beauty have faced difficulties, with the owner highlighting the Covid-19 pandemic as a particularly challenging period, however, puts the business’ revival down to the clientele’s ‘consistent support’.

“The pandemic was a really difficult time,” She said.

“Not being able to work, wondering if the clientele I had worked so hard to build up over the years would return to me or not.

“But it soon filled up and clients came flooding back and I’m forever grateful to them for the consistent support they’ve given me since they started coming to Emerald Beauty.

“A client once told me it was a hidden gem in the heart of the city and I think she hit the nail on the head.

“It’s a one-to-one, calm space where you can relax, switch off, and offload whilst being pampered and I couldn’t love my job more.”
