Cher first attended the Met Gala in 1974, wearing an iconic naked dress that has inspired hundreds of copycats over the years. She returned to the Met Gala red carpet last night, this time in a black Burberry dress and a cropped leather jacket, plus an ice-blond wig and classic glam by the team at Charlotte Tilbury. “I was so excited to be working with Cher and Charlotte Tilbury Beauty this evening for Cher’s grand return to the Met Gala red carpet,” makeup artist Francesca Tolot tells Bazaar. Below, the makeup artist breaks down exactly how to get Cher’s Met Gala 2026 look.
The first step in any red-carpet makeup look is skin prep. “I started Cher’s glam by applying a generous amount of Charlotte’s Magic Cream, gently massaging it into the face before applying any makeup,” Tolot says. “I love this product, as it’s a moisturizer and primer in one—it makes makeup go on like a dream.”
Next, Tolot applied base products from Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush collection. “I love the Airbrush Foundation and Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder, as it gives this smoothing effect to the skin and photographs beautifully on red carpets,” she says.
Tolot created Cher’s “smoky, shimmering eye look” using the Charlotte Tilbury Exagger-Eyes Easy Eyeshadow Sticks (coming soon) and finished things off with “a blurred Pillow Talk lip.” The Hollywood icon traded in her signature black “Cher hair” for a mid-length, platinum blond wig that added a nice contrast to her all-black outfit. The result was a look fit for the most tenured queen of the Met Gala. Shop Cher’s entire Met Gala 2026 makeup look below.
