Dreame has already provided a convincing answer to this everyday kitchen problem with the SF25 – a kitchen waste shredder that shreds and drastically reduces the volume of waste. I have already tested the SF25 without WiFi extensively and was impressed by the solid workmanship, the whisper-quiet operation and the effective activated charcoal filter. However, one point of criticism remained back then: an app connection was missing – and Dreame is now fulfilling this wish with the SF25 WiFi. The new model brings smart connectivity into play without sacrificing the proven strengths of the original. This test clarifies whether the upgrade is convincing.

Design & workmanship
The SF25 WiFi shares its housing entirely with the already familiar SF25 – and that is by no means a point of criticism. The device makes a very high-quality impression; it doesn’t crack or creak at any point. The high material quality is underlined by the weight of around 8 kg. Despite the high weight, Dreame has opted for a slim, compact housing which, thanks to the white color and modern design, should fit in well in pretty much any kitchen.
Measuring 19.4 cm wide and 30.5 cm high, the SF25 is about as high as an A4 sheet of paper. This means that the appliance can easily find a place on the worktop or in a cupboard, even in smaller kitchens. There is a transparent viewing window on the top, allowing you to watch the SF25 at work. Thanks to the high-quality coating on the inside, the window does not mist up.
So if you want to watch the shredding process with curiosity, you have a clear view of the inside at all times. The LED display on the top shows the remaining time of the current process – handy for knowing when the cycle is finished without having to open the app. The touch-sensitive, illuminated controls are intuitively illustrated and easy to reach.
However, the buttons sometimes react somewhat unreliably with wet fingers – a small shortcoming that can be quite relevant in the kitchen and also bothered me a little with the previous model. Physical buttons would be the clear favorite here. The main upgrade compared to the basic model is simply invisible from the outside: an integrated WiFi module that integrates the SF25 WiFi into the Dreame app and thus into an entire ecosystem of smart household appliances.
Technical equipment & features
Trion three-blade system: the heart of the system
The advanced Trion three-blade system offers multi-dimensional cutting and crushing of all food waste in seconds and delivers impressive performance without repeating cycles. Specifically, this means that three multi-directional blades rotate alternately clockwise and counter-clockwise, shredding kitchen waste from different angles simultaneously.
The system processes everything from bones and peelings to greasy food waste in seconds. The container itself is made of aluminum with a nano-ceramic coating – a material that is not only hygienic, but also odorless and prevents the build-up of residue from the outset.
Dry processing & volume reduction
The real unique selling point of the SF25 system compared to classic kitchen composters is the combined shredding and drying function. The appliance shreds and dries kitchen waste into a hygienic, dry residue, reduces the volume of waste by up to 90 percent and automatically adjusts the drying time to the amount of waste – between 4 and 6 hours depending on the fill level. The dry residue can be disposed of to save space or used as a nutrient-rich fertilizer.
Activated carbon filter & odor control
The activated carbon filter is able to absorb ammonia, hydrogen sulphide, trimethylamine, styrene, carbon disulphide, methanol, methyl sulphide, dimethyl sulphide and ozone – odor molecules that are produced when food waste is chopped up and heated. The filter binds these molecules directly at the source before they can spread throughout the kitchen. A particularly environmentally and user-friendly detail: the filter is not intended for single use.
It can be rinsed out with warm water and reused – cleaning it extends its service life by a further two months. Overall, Dreame recommends replacing the filter every 6 to 8 months. Replacement filters are available from the official Dreame store. With the SF25 WiFi, there is now a decisive advantage: the app monitors the remaining service life of the filter in real time and automatically reminds you when it is due for replacement – so you no longer have to keep an eye on when the filter is due.
Automatic self-cleaning
The self-cleaning mode should be carried out weekly. Automatic cleaning at high temperature, followed by hot air drying, keeps the chopper effortlessly clean. A quick wash with a mild detergent is also sufficient to keep the chamber clean. Compared to conventional composters, which require time-consuming manual scrubbing, this is a considerable convenience advantage.
Quiet operation
The Dreame SF25 WiFi runs at a soothingly quiet 27 dB(A) and is therefore suitable for use during the day and at night without making any disturbing noises. By way of comparison, this is roughly equivalent to the rustling of leaves or a gentle whisper. In practice, this makes the appliance practically invisible during kitchen operation – you can easily cook, listen to music or have a conversation next to it without being disturbed by the SF25 WiFi. The appliance is only a little louder for a short time at the beginning, when harder leftovers are initially chopped.
Compact plug-and-play design
Thanks to the plug-and-play design, no installation is necessary – simply set it up, plug it in and get started. This is a significant difference to classic waste grinders, which have to be permanently installed under the sink. The SF25 WiFi does not require a handyman and can be placed flexibly on the worktop or in the cupboard.
The app in detail
This is the key upgrade of the SF25 WiFi – and the point that I missed the most when testing the standard SF25 (Review | € 299.00 *). An app was missing from the basic model. I could well imagine that some people would like to follow the process remotely. Dreame has made up for this and put together a useful package of app functions.
Specifically, the Dreame app offers the following options for the SF25 WiFi:
- Remote control: at home or on the move, the appliance can be switched on and off via smartphone. So if you cook in the evening, fill the container and then go into the living room, you can start the cycle without having to go back into the kitchen. This is also practical if you prefer to run the SF25 WiFi at night – simply start it from the bedroom and the result is ready the next morning.
- Energy monitoring: Consumption data can be called up at a glance at any time – including historical energy data. If you want to keep an eye on your power consumption or want to know how often the appliance has actually been in use, you will find all the relevant figures clearly presented here.
- Filter status & reminders: The remaining service life of the activated charcoal filter is monitored in real time – with automatic reminders to ensure freshness never diminishes. This is real added value: with the standard model, you had to remember yourself when the last filter change was. The app takes this task off your hands completely.
Practical test
For the practical test, I cooked a goulash – a dish that naturally produces a fair amount of kitchen waste. Bell pepper, tomato, onion and potato peelings accumulated over the course of cooking and gradually ended up in the SF25 WiFi’s container. An ideal mix of different types of waste: moist tomato skins, sturdy bell pepper peelings, watery onion skins and starchy potato peelings.
Handling is identical to the basic model – and that’s a good thing. Open the lid, put the waste in, close the lid, start. This time I decided to start it via the app while I was still busy tidying up the kitchen. The connection was quickly established and the start worked smoothly at the touch of a finger. The Trion three-blade system reliably processes everything from bowls to greasy leftovers.
This was also confirmed with my goulash waste: the bell pepper peelings and the somewhat more robust potato peelings in particular did not cause the system any problems. After the cycle was completed, a dry, significantly reduced powder remained, which can be used as compost. Odors during operation? Not a thing – the activated charcoal filter did its job just as reliably as the previous model.
Real-time monitoring via the app proved to be a real convenience in everyday life. You no longer have to go into the kitchen to check the display to see how far the process has progressed – a quick glance at your smartphone is enough. For anyone who likes to leave the SF25 running overnight, this is a noticeable difference to the WiFi-less version.
On energy consumption: Dreame officially states around 0.56 kWh per application. In practice, however, the consumption may well be higher – other testers have measured peak values of up to 400 watts and determined an average of 1.5 to 2 kWh per process, which can mean monthly costs of 12 to 15 euros for daily operation. This is a factor that you should bear in mind when making a purchase decision – especially for daily use.
Conclusion
The Dreame SF25 WiFi is the logical upgrade to an already impressive device. From the first touch to daily use, the appliance conveys a clear premium impression – solid workmanship, excellent shredding and drying results and effective odor reduction. The WiFi connection is not just a marketing feature, but a useful added convenience: remote control via smartphone, automatic filter reminders and energy monitoring make everyday life with the appliance noticeably more pleasant. If you already own the SF25 without WiFi and are satisfied with it, you don’t necessarily have to switch – the core functions are identical. However, if you are new to this or appreciate the smart control, you should go straight for the WiFi model. The surcharge compared to the basic model is a good investment given the range of functions.
