Nearly 95% of Spanish smartphone owners using WhatsApp – study

WhatsApp continued as far and away the most popular instant messaging service in Spain, used by some 94.6 percent of smartphone owners who regularly connect to the internet, according to a survey conducted by telecom regulator CNMC corresponding to the second half of 2025. Instagram followed with 27.6 percent, Telegram with 17.4 percent, Facebook Messenger with 14.1 percent and Discord with 3.0 percent.
