Whew, curating a “best of men” in this year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale was actually hard to do.
The selection is really good — arguably better than the women’s — and I think it shows by a first glance through just the shoes (the New Balance options alone, OMG)!
Hop on over to Nordstrom’s men’s clothing, and there’s actually a lot going on. While the men’s sale seems to be dominated by suits and dress shirts galore, if you keep digging there are funky button-up tops for the live-life-like-you’re-on-vacation enthusiast, a handful of sharp sweaters, and a healthy dose of comfort basics all worthy of snapping up.

My focus for this “Best of” list was to look at the clothing that could actually be the most useful in a wardrobe. I made sure to source the pieces that would be ultra-comfortable yet super-stylish — the very best tops, bottoms, accessories and jackets that feel really special and can go the distance.

NSale 2023 Best Of Men’s: T-Shirts, Button-Ups & Jeans
Is it just my husband, or can men never have enough good tees? This year’s NSale has an amazing selection of high-quality tops. I’m loving the graphic tees (this one from AllSaints is cool) myself, but what will probably be the most beneficial for a closet are all of the soft, well-made basic tees, some henley tops and (short- and long-sleeve) button-up shirts. There’s a few gems in the jeans as well (these sharp FRAME jeans come in slim as well as an athletic fit)!

NSale 2023 Best Of Men’s: Sweaters & Jackets
The men’s coats-and-jackets category in the Nordstrom sale isn’t huge, but if you look closely, there are some epic steals. It’s almost as if there’s one really amazing option of every style of jacket (like this gorgeous Pendleton ranch coat for all of the “Yellowstone”/Kevin Costner-obsessed). So, if you find one you love, make sure to snap it up quickly! As for the sweaters and sweatshirts? The selection is actually quite diverse, but the few below are sure to sell out. And if you can’t tell, I love a good basic — this Faherty hoodie is simple but effective.

NSale 2023 Best Of Men’s: Sneakers, Boots & Accessories
Here we go, the Taj Mahal of the 2023 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale men’s section: SHOES. The sneaker selection is truly too good to be true, and each time I pass through the selection I’m a little more in awe. This style of New Balance running shoes is what my husband dubbed as the Most Comfortable in his own closet (and the man loves sneakers), and these stellar men’s Sorel boots would make for an amazing NSale purchase (especially as a gift). Don’t forget the accessories: I’m super-partial to this made-in-Detroit Shinola watch (ooo, also the Ridge card case my husband swears by).

NSale 2023 Best Of Men’s: Workout Clothes & Loungewear
Right away, I was drawn to the On running shirt and track pants included in this year’s men’s sport section of the NSale, noting that there’s only one color of each, which almost certainly guarantees a sell-out. But there are a few other gems in this category I think will go just as fast: the Vince cashmere-&-wool sweatpants and hooded sweatshirt. And for the man who likes to lounge in luxe: this linen shirt from Parachute, with the choice of matching lounge pants or lounge shorts!

My personal favorite part of the men’s selection in the NSale? The fact that Nordstrom categorized a specific “Big & Tall” section. Coming from a family comprised entirely of very tall and athletic men, I know all too well that this is a glorious option when considering the men’s shopping experience!
