OXO Good Grips Mini Measuring Cup Review

I’m a former pro baker who still bakes regularly, so my measuring spoons get a lot of use. Precision is key—and it’s fun, until you have four different measuring spoons scattered all over your counter, sticky with vanilla, oil or vinegar residue. It’s a sloppy mess, and after a long workday, the last thing I want to do is wash all of these little spoons and wipe down the residual puddles on my counter. It measures in both tablespoons and ounces, with markings ranging from ½ tablespoon to 4 tablespoons on one side and ¼ ounce to 2 ounces on the other. Since there are 3 teaspoons in a tablespoon, I even use it to quickly approximate a 1-teaspoon measurement when making sauces, dressings, icings or homemade jam. 

Equipped with a pour spout on the rim, this cup allows me to transfer ingredients without the drips and spills that come with measuring spoons. I can also pour ingredients directly into the cup without worrying about serious overflow, which can easily happen in a measuring spoon. 

Its compact size—just 2.4 inches by 2.9 inches—means I can hand-wash it in my sink in 30 seconds or less, and it takes up virtually no storage space. No matter how crowded my kitchen drawers are, there’s always room for it. It’s also large enough not to slip down my sink drain—a niche benefit I’ve come to appreciate.  

The only caveat is that I wouldn’t rely on this tool for recipes that require absolute precision. While it’s great for measuring liquids, it’s a little harder to ensure you have the exact right amount for things like baking soda, baking powder or yeast, where you’d want to be extra certain. For that, I’d stick to a scale or a good old measuring spoon that can be leveled off.
