2024 Cadillac Escalade
Expert Opinion: The 2024 Cadillac Escalade is a luxurious three-row SUV with the ability to seat a total of eight passengers. It’s a boat out on the road, providing plenty of space for both cargo and passengers. In addition, the interior of the 2024 Escalade is a place of luxury, stacked with all the latest technology. While the Escalade is roomy and luxurious, it’s not quite up to par when it comes to handling, especially when compared to its rivals.
Pros- Exceptional cabin space
- Escalade V V8 performance
- Cargo volume
Cons- Interior cabin quality
- HVAC switches are difficult to use
The Cadillac Escalade is more than just a full-size luxury SUV, it is a statement. The sheer size, muscular but sophisticated styling will make people turn around and acknowledge its presence in any environment. With the brand new high-performance Escalade V-series, which continues to be the most powerful full-size SUV in the world in 2024, it is simply ridiculous. Lexus, from Japan may not have a vehicle that is as large as the Escalade, but the LX attempts to offer similar levels of luxury, at around a similar price range.
The Lexus LX 600 is the largest SUV the brand manufactures in 2024, and it is the flagship model of the brand. Carrying its reputation for bulletproof reliability, is it enough for the 2024 LX to change the perception of the 2024 Escalade? We find out in this comprehensive comparison.

Here’s What You Should Know About The 2023 Lexus LX 600
The new Lexus LX 600 will go up against the heavyweights in the SUV world, including the Cadillac Escalade and the Mercedes-Benz GLS.
Performance And Capability
In the US, the Lexus LX is available as the LX 600, which uses a 3.4-liter, twin-turbo V6 engine. The LX 600 borrows the same engine from the J300 Land Cruiser, which is not sold in the US, but it is the only engine choice available for the LX in America. The engine is only sold with a 10-speed automatic transmission with four-wheel-drive. However, in Japan, Lexus has an ‘Off-road’ LX with three diff-locks that the US market doesn’t get.
The Escalade is available as standard with a 6.2-liter V8 engine, but a 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder diesel is an option across the primary range for a minor fee. The high-performance Escalade V, however, uses a 6.2-liter supercharged V8. A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard across the range, but Cadillac will equip the SUV with either 2WD, 4WD or AWD, depending on the model.

The LX 600’s 3.4-liter V6 engine is tuned to produce 409 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. In terms of performance, the LX is no slouch, the engine delivers its power smoothly, and the shifts from the 10-speed auto are seamless. The Escalade with the turbo diesel engine makes 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, while the 6.4-liter V8 makes 420 hp and the same amount of torque. Both these engines are available in 2WD or 4WD options. The 6.2-liter supercharged V8 in the Escalade V makes a ridiculous 682 hp and 653 lb-ft of torque. The Escalade V is only available with either 4WD or all-wheel-drive.

This LX 600’s engine is not the most efficient motor in its class and the lack of a hybrid engine in the LX is firmly felt. If Lexus paired the hybrid system with the engine like the Toyota Sequoia, the engine would have better performance, and improve fuel economy, which would play in the LX’s favor. The Escalade diesel is more economical, but the V8 version of the Cadillac packs a lot more performance in either form.
Fuel Economy
The 3.4-liter V6 in the LX is not the best when it comes to fuel economy as it is rated at 19 MPG combined. The engine can deliver 17 MPG in the city and 22 MPG on the highway, which means the LX is in dire need of a hybrid powertrain. While the Escalade’s primary engine is a massive 6.2-liter V8, naturally, the optional diesel motor is the less thirsty one. The 6-cylinder diesel in the Escalade is EPA rated up to 23 MPG combined which isn’t great either, but it is better than the Lexus. The Escalade diesel offers 21 MPG in the city, but a much better 27 MPG on the highway.

10 Things To Know About The 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ
The IQ will be the best handling, most powerful, most luxurious, and most technologically advanced Escalade.
Interior Design And Technology
The Lexus LX offers an extremely luxurious experience with its interior. The dashboard is simplified and all the switches and controls are placed on the screens or the center console and the center of the dash, so it’s easy to familiarize. The two-row models are extremely spacious inside, while the driving position is fairly upright, and commanding, but comfortable overall. The LX offers great outward visibility with minimal blind sports for a large SUV. Also, getting in and out of the vehicle is fairly easy with the large door apertures, but the high seat position can make it difficult for shorter people.
The Escalade offers an incredible amount of interior space, as you would expect from a vehicle of its size. All three rows can easily accommodate full-size adults in all three rows and getting into any row of seats is extremely easy. Like the Lexus, the driving position is upright and commanding, but comfortable nonetheless. Outward visibility isn’t the best, but the sensors and camera make it easy to maneuver the full-size SUV through tight spaces and parking spots. The dash is very easy to get used to. However, as the switches for the HVAC are not backlit, they are difficult to operate at night.
2024 Lexus LX Vs. 2024 Cadillac Escalade Technology Comparison
The 2024 Lexus LX features a dual touchscreen setup on the dash. A large 12.3-inch touchscreen is the primary screen that is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The secondary 8-inch screen helps control various in-vehicle functions like climate control and vehicle dynamics. The SUV is available with up to six USB ports, while the LX 600 Ultra Luxury model offers a wireless charger for the rear passengers along with massage seats.
Cadillac equips the Escalade with a 16.9-inch infotainment screen as standard which is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A wireless phone charger is also standard, along with the 19-speaker AKG Studio audio system. The driver also gets a 14.2-inch fully-digital instrument cluster on all Escalades. A head-up display, heated and ventilated front seats, massaging front seats and a 36-speaker AKG premium audio system upgrade are available as you climb up the trim line.
Interior Room And Cargo Capacity
The Lexus LX is available in multiple seating configurations and cargo capacity varies accordingly. The three-row version boasts 11 cu-ft of cargo volume with all the seats in place. Behind the second row, the LX offers up to 46 cu-ft and 71 cu-ft with the second and third rows folded down. The Escalade, even in standard wheelbase, is much longer than the LX, but the ESV long wheelbase model is 21 inches longer than the LX. With all three rows in place, the Escalade offers up to 41.5 cu-ft of cargo room, and 94.1 cu-ft behind the second row.
