Ford ‘frustrated’ and wants immediate resolution to Horner investigation

Less than a week before the 2024 Formula 1 season begins, world championship winning team principal Christian Horner is under investigation and Ford wants it completed as soon as possible.

Horner, 50, has been Red Bull’s team principal since its inception since 2005, and is currently being independently investigated following allegations made against him by a female employee.

While the investigation has been ongoing since the start of February, Horner has remained present at the helm of Red Bull, attending the launch of the RB20 and pre-season testing in Bahrain and has strongly denied any wrongdoing.

According to an article by the ASSOCIATED PRESS now Ford has increased the pressure.

Ford and Red Bull will join forces working together in Red Bull’s new Powertrains deivions from the start of the 2026 season.

Ford CEO Jim Farley has written a letter expressing his “frustration” about the situation and wants a resolution urgently.

“(Ford is) increasingly frustrated, however, by the lack of resolution or clear indication from you about when you anticipate a fair and just resolution of this matter,” Farley wrote.

“We are likewise frustrated by the lack of full transparency surrounding this matter with us, your corporate partners, and look forward to receiving a complete account of all findings.

“As we have indicated previously, without satisfactory response, Ford’s values are non-negotiable.

“It is imperative that our racing partners share and demonstrate a genuine commitment to those same values. “My team and I are available at any time to discuss this matter.

“We remain insistent on, and hopeful for, a resolution we can all stand behind.”

Farley’s words arrive after Formula One Management also made a statement suggesting it also wants a resolution sorted.

“We have noted that Red Bull has instigated an independent investigation into internal allegations at Red Bull Racing,” said the FOM statement.

“We hope that the matter will be clarified at the earliest opportunity, after a fair and thorough process and we will not comment further at this time.”

The 2024 Formula 1 season begins this weekend at Bahrain.
