The Karnataka Transport Department Sunday seized more than 30 luxury cars after their owners failed to pay the mandatory road tax worth over Rs 3 crore.
The crackdown targeted owners of car brands like Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Aston Martin, and Range Rover.
The operation was led by C Mallikarjun, Deputy Commissioner along with 41 officials, including Regional Transport officers B Srinivas Prasad, Deepak, Srinivasappa, and Ranjit.
“These vehicles were operating without paying road tax. We have issued notices to recover Rs 3 crore in dues from the owners,” a senior transport official said.
Authorities had been monitoring luxury car owners in Bengaluru, who often take their vehicles on weekend drives, leading to Sunday’s enforcement drive.
