The Kia EV3 has secured a major win in the competitive European electric vehicle market after finishing first in a comprehensive comparison test conducted by German automotive publication Auto Zeitung.
The compact electric SUV outperformed four rival electric crossovers, earning the highest overall score of 3,039 points. The EV3 impressed judges with its balance of practicality, comfort, electric performance, efficiency, and overall ownership value.
Auto Zeitung evaluated the vehicles across five key categories that reflect real-world customer priorities in the growing EV segment.
Kia EV3 Delivered Strong Scores Across Key Categories
The comparison test examined space and practicality, ride comfort, powertrain performance, driving dynamics, and cost efficiency.
According to the publication, the Kia EV3 stood out for its spacious cabin layout, strong rear passenger accommodation, and high-quality interior finish. The SUV also received praise for its intuitive controls and practical digital features available through Kia Connect.
Ride comfort was another major strength. Auto Zeitung highlighted the EV3’s supportive seating, low cabin noise levels, and suspension tuning, which handled rough road surfaces effectively while maintaining comfort during longer journeys.
The EV3 also performed strongly in the powertrain category thanks to its responsive 150 kW (204 PS) electric motor, efficient energy usage, and competitive charging capability. During testing, the vehicle achieved a real-world range of 335 kilometers and recorded a top speed of 170 km/h — the highest among all competitors in the comparison.
The publication ultimately described the EV3 as offering the best overall package in the test field.
Kia Says EV Buyers Are Becoming More Demanding
Spencer Cho, Vice President and Head of Global Sales at Kia Corporation, said the result demonstrates the EV3’s competitiveness in one of Europe’s most important electric vehicle segments.
He noted that EV buyers are paying closer attention to factors such as range, charging performance, practicality, efficiency, quality, and total ownership costs before making a purchase decision.
According to Kia, the EV3’s strong result gives additional momentum to the company’s growing electric vehicle strategy across global markets.
Built on Kia’s Dedicated EV Platform
The EV3 is based on Kia’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the same architecture underpinning the brand’s larger electric SUVs and EV models.
Kia says the compact SUV brings many of the advanced technologies, design elements, and usability features found in higher-end EVs into a more accessible package for mainstream buyers.
The vehicle is positioned as an important part of Kia’s expanding electric lineup, which now spans compact SUVs, family-focused EVs, sedans, and purpose-built mobility vehicles.
A Growing Reputation for the Kia EV3
The latest recognition from Auto Zeitung adds to the EV3’s growing list of accolades as Kia continues strengthening its position in the global EV market.
With European buyers increasingly prioritizing practicality, efficiency, and everyday usability over headline performance figures alone, the EV3’s balanced approach appears to be resonating strongly with both reviewers and consumers alike.
Founded in 1969 and headquartered in Cologne, Germany, Auto Zeitung remains one of the country’s most respected automotive publications, known for its detailed vehicle testing and in-depth industry analysis.
