Seventeen confiscated cars will bolster Ukrainian military and regional services. The move signals steady Latvian support for Ukraine’s defense needs.
The Latvian State Agency for Provisioning will transfer 17 vehicles confiscated from drunk drivers to Ukraine.
According to the department’s statement, these vehicles are intended for the needs of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, units of the National Guard of Ukraine, as well as for the Malynivska Military Administration of Kharkiv Oblast, the Pryluky District Military Administration of Chernihiv Oblast, and the Borivska Central Hospital.
The vehicles were manufactured between 2004 and 2015. Among them are a Mercedes-Benz E350 CDI 4Matic from 2011 and two BMW 525s from 2004.
Since the start of the war, Latvia has regularly transferred cars to Ukraine that were confiscated from drivers for violations of the law, as well as those seized in other criminal cases. Final decisions on transferring the vehicles are made by the Latvian Government.
This initiative underscores the close cooperation between Latvia and Ukraine in supporting defense capabilities and material-technical assistance.
