The cost of charging electric cars at Shropshire Council charging points could be set to rise.
The authority said its charging point provider, Connected Kerb, is reviewing tariffs due to rising energy costs.
It said that confirmation of any changes to costs will be confirmed by September 10.
A statement from the authority said: “Shropshire Council has been informed by its electric vehicle (EV) charging partner, Connected Kerb, that it intends to review charging tariffs across its network due to significant increases in electricity network costs.
“Connected Kerb has advised that increases in national electricity transmission and distribution charges – introduced from April 2026 – have substantially increased the cost of operating public EV charging infrastructure.
“The company is currently reviewing the impact of these costs and expects to confirm any changes to charging tariffs by 10 September 2026.
“Any revised tariffs would take effect no earlier than 14 September 2026.
“At this stage, no final tariff levels have been confirmed.
“Connected Kerb has advised that it continues to explore options to minimise the impact on customers, including negotiating new energy supply arrangements and offering lower-cost charging options through its smart charging services and loyalty programmes.
“Further information will be provided once final tariff details have been confirmed by Connected Kerb.”
