MALL of the South ran their It’s All About Cars and Gadgets shop-to-win competition from June 1 to August 31.
Shoppers were encouraged to spend R300 or more at any Mall of the South store, complete the entry form, attach their till slip and pop it in the entry boxes that were conveniently located throughout the mall.
Up for grabs was a brand new Haval H2 Luxury Auto from Haval The Glen valued at R319 900 (as first prize), an one-year Eye of Africa golf membership valued at R20 000 (as second prize) and MasterDrive courses valued at R10 000 (as third prize).
Fifty semi-finalists were randomly selected, from the 5 960 entries, and had to be present at the live draw, which took place on September 7.
At the draw, the present semi-finalists were anxiously waiting to hear their names being called out as Hester Smith, Mall of the South centre manager, randomly drew the 10 finalists’ names from the tombola.
The moment of truth finally arrived … who was going to drive off with a new set of wheels?
Each finalist attempted their selected key in the vehicle and after the first, second and third attempt, the crowd was still anxiously waiting for someone’s key to turn.
Everyone’s nerves were through the roof as even after the ninth attempt no key had yet opened the car, the anticipation continued.
The best was definitely saved for the last finalist, Nazirien Pullen.
The crowd was already in awe, as they knew that Nazirien’s key, the last key, was the golden key.
As Nazirien approached the vehicle, she gently turned the key and then without further delay, the hooter went off and the lights were flashing. An emotional Nazirien won a brand new Haval H2 Luxury Auto.
Nazirien said: “I am still so excited and in disbelief, I keep looking at my photos to confirm it’s all real. Thank you so much!”
The runner-up was Jassika Sheikh and second runner-up was Sara Dass.
Hester said: “We would like to thank our devoted sponsors – Haval The Glen, Eye of Africa Golf and Residential Estate and MasterDrive – for their unconditional support and contribution towards the It’s All About Cars and Gadgets campaign. We also would like thank every shopper for participating in the competition.”
All the finalists received a goody bag so that no one walked away empty handed.
The total value of the goody bags was over R33 000.
Mall of the South would like to extend their gratitude to the following for their contribution towards the bags: Bad Boy, Bargain Books, Cardies, Digitime Watches, Edgars, Events by Hanlery, Flight Centre, Fournos Bakery, Haval The Glen and The Cake Factory.
