In the ever-evolving landscape of television technology, it is getting harder by the day for brands to stand out. Brand recall perhaps plays a crucial role as buyers want to go with tried and tested names.

Panasonic certainly belongs in that category. The Panasonic MX series is the latest offering from the consumer electronics brand. Panasonic’s new range of TVs are available in different display size options (including 32’, 43’, 55’, 65’, and 75’ inches) and ranges between Rs 19,990 to Rs 3,19,990. We got our hands on the 65-inch TV from the series, which is priced at Rs 1,19,900.

It is powered by Google TV, which provides access to a wide range of streaming apps and content. Here’s what we think of the TV

Panasonic MX850 (65-inch) TV review:

Design and display

The MX850 has a sleek and modern design with a thin bezel and a minimalist stand. The TV is very easy to set up and the remote control is well-designed and easy to use. The bezels on the side are rather minimal and the ports are all located at the back.

If you are mounting it on the wall, then we suggest to keep a bit of a gap than usual. The ports aren’t really easy to reach otherwise. Speaking of ports, there is the usual array which you will find in the TV. There are three HDMI ports, one eARC, and two USB-A ports.

The 65-inch display supports various HDR formats, including Dolby Vision and HDR10+.

The TV also has a number of picture presets that can be adjusted to suit your viewing preferences.

Panasonic MX850 (65-inch) TV review: Picture, audio output

The MX850 has a built-in 20W speaker system that produces clear and balanced sound. It also supports Dolby Atmos, which provides a more immersive audio experience. If you want better sound, you can connect the TV to a soundbar or home theatre. For that Panasonic offers Bluetooth Audio Link that allows wireless audio connectivity to other speakers.

For those who want to listen to music/audio at high volumes, this is a handy feature to have. The feature also allows users to stream music content from their smartphones or tablets devices and play it through the TV speakers. The 20W audio output isn’t anything that really stands out but doesn’t give you too many reasons to complain either.

The MX850 is a smart TV that runs on Google TV, which has a user-friendly interface that makes it easy to find and watch content.

It also has a number of other features, such as voice search, live TV integration, and recommendations based on your viewing history. The MX850 offers 4K resolution with a wide colour gamut. Panasonic claims that the wider colour gamut can can display a wider range of colours than standard TVs.

In our experience, the standard setting of the TV produces rather muted and subdued colours.

You have to tweak the settings to get the right picture quality. The MX850 has a number of picture presets that can be adjusted to suit your viewing preferences. These presets include Standard, Vivid, Movie, and Game. There is also a Custom preset that allows you to adjust the settings manually.

The overall quality can match with the competition but can’t really beat them.

It is a pleasant experience but not something that really knocks your socks off.

Panasonic does offer a host of other features that make it a compelling option. For instance, there’s Panasonic’s IoT-enabled platform – MirAIe. You can turn the TV into a hub for all smart devices. It is a digital interface that wirelessly connects all other appliances to the TV.

The TV supports both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

The Panasonic MX850 series 65-inch TV is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a stylish and feature-rich smart TV with excellent picture quality and sound performance. It is a bit more expensive than some other 65-inch TVs, but it is worth the extra cost for the superior picture quality and smart TV features.

Here are some additional details about the design, picture quality, and audio output of the Panasonic MX850 series 65-inch TV:

Panasonic MX850 (65-inch) TV review: Verdict

The Panasonic MX850 series 65-inch TV is a good choice for anyone looking for a stylish and feature-rich smart TV. The picture quality and audio output are satisfactory. It is a bit more expensive than some other 65-inch TV out there.

The price may just go against the Panasonic TV but the brand recall could go in its favour.
