Times News NetworkChandigarh: Around 300 dogs of 48 different breeds will participate in the platinum jubilee dog show to be held in Chandigarh on Feb 24 and 25. For the first time, a pet expo will also be held in the same venue, where around 100 leading brands of dog products will be displayed.Rare breeds like Bernese Mountain dog, Jack Russell Terrier, Belgian Shepherd, Toy Poodle and Maltese will be the centre of attraction this time. Besides, most popular dog breeds would be represented. Organised by the Chandigarh Kennel Club — a local chapter of Kennel Club of India (KCI) — the show will be held at Sector 17 Parade Ground in Chandigarh. Philip John from USA and Vaid from Delhi would be the judges of the show.H S Aulakh, secretary, Chandigarh Kennel Club told TOI that a special show for golden retriever, labrador and beagle would be held on Feb 24 while it would be all breed show on Feb 25. “We will also celebrate Pet Parents Day on Feb 25 to honour all pet lovers who take exceptional care of fur babies. There will also be a pet fashion show and pet grooming competition of international standards on Feb 24,” Aulakh said.He added that the event would begin at 9am and there would be no entry fee.Categories of breeds displayed would be toys, terrier, utility, hounds etc. Rottweiler, German Shepherd, Newfoundland, Saint Bernard, Beagle, Siberian husky, Lhasa Apso, Great Dane, Sher Pei, English mastiff, pug, Labrador, boxer, dachshund smooth hair, Afghan hound, English pointer, and Dalmatian Pekingese, Kerry blue terrier etc are expected breeds at the show. The dog show at Chandigarh is one of the most awaited events for the pet lovers across the country.
