Petition to install speed humps around Dudley school after beloved cat run over

by R.Donald

A petition has been launched to install speed humps on streets surrounding a primary school in Dudley.

A petition has been launched on Change.org by Paige Dickins to install speed humps and reduce the speed limit on streets surrounding Netherbrook Primary School in Dudley.

Ms Dickins says that speed humps and a speed limit need to be urgently installed to “protect the lives of children and residents alike.”

Ms Dickins says that the petition is “deeply personal” for her because her “beloved” cat got “run over by a car travelling far too fast through our estate.”

She added: “The heartbreak of that moment still lingers, and it serves as a painful reminder of how quickly reckless driving can destroy lives.

“If a cherished pet can be taken so suddenly, it is unthinkable what could happen to a child.

“Slowing traffic through enforced limits and physical measures like speed humps would not only prevent further tragedies but also create a safer, more secure environment for everyone in our community.”

Ms Dickins started the petition on Thursday 9 April. As of Monday 13 April 25 people have signed the petition.

The roads surrounding the primary school include Chester Road, Norwich Road, Exeter Road and Bristol Road.

There is a one-way system in place on the streets surrounding the primary school on the Bowling Green estate.

This system was implemented to manage traffic and address parking issues on Chester Road near the school.
