Air China Cargo has signed a purchase agreement with Airbus for four additional A350F freighters, increasing its total order for the type to 10 aircraft.
The Chinese cargo carrier previously placed an order for six A350F freighters in November 2025.
Wang Hongyan, vice president of Air China Cargo, said the additional order “is a crucial strategic decision for the company to further optimise our fleet structure and expand transport capacity.”
Hongyan added: “It will allow us to better match and meet the demands of the international air cargo market, laying a solid foundation for the company’s long-term stable development.”
Air China Cargo began introducing Airbus freighters at the end of 2023 and currently operates eight Airbus A330-200P2F aircraft.
The A350F will join the carrier’s fleet in the near future, complementing its A330-200P2F freighters and supporting operations on long-haul and medium-to-long-haul routes.
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus executive vice president sales of the commercial aircraft business, said: “We are very pleased with Air China Cargo’s decision to increase its order for the A350F freighter. It reflects Air China Cargo’s full confidence in Airbus’ products and reaffirms the A350F’s leading position as the next-generation freighter.”
According to Airbus, the A350F offers a range of up to 8,700km and a payload of up to 111 tonnes.
The aircraft is made from more than 70% advanced materials, is 46 tonnes lighter than competitor aircraft, and is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines.
Airbus said the aircraft delivers up to a 20% reduction in fuel consumption and carbon emissions compared with previous-generation aircraft with a similar payload-range capability.
The manufacturer added that the A350F is the only freighter fully meeting ICAO’s 2027 CO2 emissions standards.
At the end of April 2026, the A350F had registered 101 orders from 14 customers.
