It was a bit of a scary evening for Karol G, whose plane had to make an emergency landing late last night following a smoke issue in the cockpit.
The news was shared by ABC News, along with video footage that showed the singer’s private jet arriving at the Van Nuys airport in California. According to the report, the plane took off from Burbank, but quickly turned around after the pilots alerted a local tower about the smoke. It is unclear what caused the issue in the first place.
There were more than a dozen people on board, including members of Karol G’s team, as well as family members. Luckily, the plane made a safe landing and there didn’t appear to be any injuries.
In footage captured by ABC, you can see Karol G exiting the aircraft and hugging her friends on the tarmac. The Colombian singer was riding in a plane that was decorated with her signature barbed wire heart logo and pink stripes. She was likely headed to Guatemala, which is where her “Mañana Será Bonito” world tour is scheduled to stop next. The reggaeton artist’s first show was supposed to take place tonight in Guatemala City, at the Explanada Cardales de Cayalá. However, it is unclear how this mishap will affect the tour’s schedule.
Despite this scare, it’s been an exciting year for Karol G already. Last month, she collected her first-ever Grammy Award, when she won the prize for Best Música Urbana Album (becoming the first female artist to do so). She also played a recurring role in the Netflix crime drama miniseries Griselda.
