Prince Harry has once again been criticised over his use of private jets, this time by rugby coach Eddie Jones.

The royal, 38, was mocked by the Australian rugby pro, who was watching a training session when he made the comments, according to the Sun.

The Duke of Sussex was also attending the session, after which he was allowed to talk to the players, as part of his former role as rugby patron for England.

Eddie, who was England boss between 2015 and 2022 said: ‘How’s climate change going mate? how was Elton John‘s jet?’

This was in reference to Harry and his wife Meghan, 42, using the musician’s private jet in 2019 to fly to Nice.

In defence of the couple, who opted for the jet despite multiple commercial flights flying to the destination daily from London, Elton John said the couple needed the security.

The Sun reports that the comments were shared on the Speaking on the For the Love of Rugby podcast.

Dan Cole told teammate and host Ben Youngs: ‘You know Prince Harry used to come in a little bit and watch us train?’

He continued: ‘There was one time he was standing there and was saying something to the group and then Eddie was like, “how’s climate change going mate? how was Elton John’s jet?”.’

Describing the comment as ‘quite good’, the duo laughed as Ben accused Dan of throwing both Eddie and Prince Harry under the bus.

Harry, who became patron of England’s Rugby Football Union in 2016 and Rugby Football League in 2017, lost the role when he and Meghan stepped away from royal life.

Both of the roles are now held by Kate Middleton, who was handed them by the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The 2019 incident was not the only time Harry and Meghan have come under fire for using private jets despite describing themselves as environmentalists.

In November last year, the couple were branded ‘eco-hypocrites’ after they flew on a private jet to a Katy Perry gig.

Harry and Meghan joined a host of other celebrities to fly from Santa Barbara to Las Vegas on a plane owned by Texan oil heir Michael Herd.

Cameron Diaz and her husband Benji Madden, as well as actress Zoe Saldana, flew on the Gulfstream jet on a 40 minute private flight to watch the final show of Perry’s Vegas residency.

When contacted by the Sun about Harry and Meghan’s flight, Herd said they ‘just went to dinner and to see Katy’s last show.’

He added: ‘They’re nice people’, and said he had no comment to make on criticism of the Sussexes’ private flight as ‘I’m not them’.
