Beauty and lifestyle content creator Shalom Blac and Charles Knight first met by happenstance. In June of 2022, they found themselves at the same after-party at a home in Hollywood. When Charles approached Shalom to chat, she assumed he was the homeowner because of “how confident he was.” Though she quickly realized that he, too, was a guest, another thing became quite clear: The pair shared an immediate, undeniable spark. “We started chatting, and ended up talking and entertaining each other for the entire remainder of the evening,” Shalom remembers.
In February of 2025, the pair, now parents to a 20-month-old son, Garden, took a day trip to Santa Monica, where they planned to soak up the sun and enjoy time by the water. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans. “The weather was not so great,” Shalom notes. “It was very foggy.” The pair decided to stick to the beach path—away from the water—due to rough-looking waves, but when Charles started urging Shalom to head down to the water to take photos, she finally obliged. There, Charles asked Shalom to close her eyes, and when she opened them, he was down on one knee. “Just after that, the sun decided to come out,” says Shalom.
The pair decided that a family-focused elopement was the perfect way to celebrate their union, so they began researching civil wedding venues in and around Los Angeles, then chose the one with the most interesting architecture. The winner? The Beverly Hills Courthouse, which was just two minutes from L’Ermitage Beverly Hills, where they spent the morning getting ready. “We made the decision to elope first and foremost out of our love for each other, but since the birth of our son, Garden, we have always wanted to tie the knot,” Shalom explains. “It truly felt like the missing piece for us as a family.”
So, on March 14, 2025, the couple, their son, and ten family members came together for an intimate, meaningful elopement in Beverly Hills. Here, see the exclusive photos of their special day, as captured by KD Photo Production.

Shalom trusted Nigerian bridal designer Tubobereni to bring her dream wedding dress to life. Inspired by two separate looks from Versace and Schiaparelli, Shalom and the team at Tubobereni began collaborating on the gown in early February; by the end of the month, she received the first videos of the look: a figure-hugging, sculptural silk mikado skirt and brown corset top, which was finished with a cropped bolero. “I loved everything about it except for the color, which appeared too white in my opinion, especially because of the brown corseted top,” Shalom remembers. “I explained my dislike for the color to Tubo and her team and suggested we use more of a cream-colored fabric instead of traditional white. Fortunately for me, Tubo wanted to ensure I felt beautiful and special on my wedding day.”
To ensure she had something to wear on her wedding day, which was just a few weeks away, the team at Tubobereni shipped the first gown to the bride-to-be while still starting on the new dress. “Literally, an hour before we were scheduled to leave on March 13th, the day before our elopement, DHL knocked on our door with my perfect wedding dress,” Shalom says.
“I wanted a custom dress because I wanted something unique that I had never seen made into a wedding dress—something that represents my style and confidence,” the bride adds. “There are no rules to elopement, so wear and do whatever makes you feel confident and beautiful.”
She carried an all-white bouquet of calla lilies, cascading orchids, and amaranthus, which was arranged by her best friend. “She made it very special by personalizing it with a photo of my late mom,” Shalom notes.

The easiest part of wedding planning? Choosing Charlie’s attire, which was a look he already owned. He selected a double-breasted Calvin Klein tuxedo from his own closet, assuming that the classic, timeless look would “complement what Shalom decided to wear, as I obviously didn’t know,” the groom explains. Aside from “a few loose buttons,” he jokes, it all went according to plan.
He accessorized with a black bowtie, Rolex watch, and the same pair of shoes his dad wore on his wedding day. His “lucky charm” aftershave, Versace Dylan Blue, was his signature scent for the day.

Shalom, a well-know beauty content creator, did her own makeup for the wedding day. “As a makeup enthusiast, it was important for me to do my own glam because, due to my burn scars, a lot of makeup artists struggle to get my makeup just right,” she explains. “Over the years, I’ve taught myself different techniques that work for me.”
Her vision was a timeless, elegant beauty look that she wouldn’t have to worry about regretting a few years down the line (“I was told I have ‘blush blindness’ by my little sister,” Shalom laughs, “so I didn’t want to look back and wish I hadn’t applied too much blush.”). She played up her eyes, a feature she’s regularly complimented on, with fake lashes, but otherwise kept her makeup soft and fresh. “I wanted to look like myself,” she explains.
If you’re looking for your own big-day beauty inspiration, Shalom offers this piece of advice: “Brides can choose their wedding makeup by finding inspiration online and taking the time to try those looks to see what makes them feel good (which I did) and I documented it on my socials.” The hero product she used on her wedding day and thinks every bride should use, too? Charlotte Tilbury’s AirBrush Setting Spray. “It’s also essential to have a good primer and setting spray because tears are inevitable on that day,” Shalom says.
For hair, she chose a sleek, low bun, which let the structure of her wedding dress and bolero shine. The bride had a signature wedding fragrance, too: “I love the Lancome Idole Now Eau because of how sweet and soft it makes me feel.”

“Our son is the best representation of our love for each other, so it only makes sense to have him witness us take such meaningful and powerful vows,” Shalom says of Garden being part of their ceremony. “Our commitment is not only to each other but to him as well. We want to instill the significance of love, respect, and partnership in him. Yes, he’s very young, but I believe that our actions now will serve as the building blocks he needs to be the best version of himself.”
One of the bride’s favorite memories from the wedding day was Charlie and Garden seeing her in her wedding dress for the very first time as she emerged from the elevator at the hotel. “Years from now, this will be a memory I will cherish forever,” she says.
Other unforgettable memories? Having other loved ones be part of this special, intimate day, and saying “I do” during the ceremony. “[Another favorite moment was] watching our loved ones not only sign as our witness but praying for our union,” Shalom explains. The couple wrote their own vows, but chose not to exchange them during their civil ceremony. Instead, Shalom and Charles read them in private after.

The couple hosted a post-ceremony dinner at The Georgian Hotel in Santa Monica, which was attended by their innermost circle. “Our close friends and family were in attendance as we shared lovely moments together and enjoyed a wonderful array of food,” the bride notes. “Charles’ parents were visiting from England so that made the moment even more special.”

“If I could offer one piece of wisdom to couples currently planning an elopement, it would be to focus on what truly matters to you both. Elopements give you the freedom to create a wedding experience that feels personal and meaningful, without the constraints of traditional expectations,” the bride says. “Think about the values and preferences that define your relationship—whether it’s choosing a breathtaking location that holds significance for you, writing your own vows, or incorporating special rituals.” She and Charles set up a seamless photo backdrop for portraits, an emerging wedding reception trend, after their ceremony—the flexibility of an elopement meant that they could prioritize moments like these on the big day.
Though the newlyweds are thrilled with how their wedding day turned out, they’re not entirely opposed to hosting another event in the future. “We have discussed the possibility of a follow-up celebration of our marriage later down the line, but we are approaching the future with an open mind because who knows what it holds,” Shalom says. If they do host another wedding, the bride says it will likely take place in Europe.

“Remember, this day is about celebrating your love and commitment to each other, so prioritize the elements that resonate with your journey together,” Shalom tells other couples planning elopements. “Keep your plans simple and intimate, and allow for spontaneity to create genuine moments. Most importantly, enjoy the journey—it’s all about making memories that matter to you as a couple.”
