Rural settings and country houses and venues with beautiful gardens are the backdrop of choice for so many small weddings in Ireland. Both Ballyvolane House and Bantry House in Cork are favourite settings for event planner Annie Dunne, of AD Events. Wedding planner Colin Fagan suggests The Wicklow Escape, especially for gourmand couples (it majors on the food experience), and Longueville House, Co Cork, an Ireland’s Blue Book gem.
But what to wear? Out of town weddings are often more relaxed in both energy and style when compared with city weddings. You might opt for pretty floral accessories to complement your backdrop. While for your gown, fabrics like tulle and organza with embroidered detailing work beautifully. And do remember – if your ceremony or reception will be held in a grassy area, block heels would be the wise decision.
