Love will take centre stage in downtown Orillia this June as Lake Country Pride presents Pride on the Patio: Queer Elopements, offering 2SLGBTQIA+ couples a unique and inclusive way to tie the knot or renew their vows during Pride celebrations.
Taking place on Friday, June 12, 2026, the initiative is presented in partnership with AWAKE Ceremony, transforming the patio at Rustica Pizza Vino into an intimate pop-up wedding space. Ceremonies will feature a floral backdrop by florillia, professional photography by Brit Deck, and officiation by an AWAKE Ceremony celebrant.
For $150 + HST, couples can book a short, meaningful ceremony — whether they are getting legally married or renewing their vows — with time set aside afterward for portraits and celebration. Participants are responsible for obtaining and bringing their own marriage licence, with all other details handled on-site.
“Pride is about celebrating love openly and without barriers,” said Victoria Butler of AWAKE Ceremony. “These elopements create a welcoming space for queer couples to mark an important moment in a way that feels genuine, joyful, and connected to the community.”
Following their ceremony, couples are invited to step out onto Mississaga Street as newlyweds and take part in the broader Lake Country Pride Festival activities happening throughout the day.
Spots are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, with scheduled time slots assigned to confirmed participants. Registration is only secured once a contract is signed and payment is received.
Elopements are open to queer couples from across Ontario and are not limited to Orillia residents.
