A mysterious double death has sent shockwaves through Odisha’s Balasore district after a man and his sister-in-law were found dead under unclear circumstances, just hours after returning to their village after marrying each other.
The incident has been reported from Shaharda village under Chandipur police limits. The deceased have been identified as Rabi Majhi, a resident of Remuna, and his sister-in-law Muni Murmu. According to sources, the duo had been missing for nearly 10 to 12 days before they suddenly returned to the village on Sunday.
Family members stated that Rabi had married Muni’s elder sister around four years ago. However, in recent months, an alleged illicit relationship developed between Rabi and Muni, following which they reportedly eloped from their home together. Their disappearance had raised concerns among family members, but their return was unexpected.

Locals claimed that the two had returned to the village after allegedly getting married. However, within hours of their arrival, both were found dead inside a house under mysterious circumstances, leaving the entire village in shock.
The incident has triggered tension in the area, with villagers demanding clarity on the sequence of events that led to their deaths. Police have reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and officials are trying to ascertain whether the deaths were due to suicide, accidental causes, or foul play.
