Married At First Sight Australia viewers witnessed the programme’s most ‘chaotic’ wedding ever as the last two couples entered the experiment. Plagued by hurdles before walking down the aisle, new bride Lauren had a less than perfect start to her wedding day.
Initially waking up late, Lauren was delayed after applying fake tan to one half of her body, before experiencing car troubles leaving her hotel, and ultimately forgetting her bouquet. The giddy bride met peaceful Jono at the end of the aisle, and while they appeared to click, viewers weren’t convinced of their connection.
Lauren admitted to writing her vows after having a few glasses of wine, but nonetheless impressed her groom. The self-professed ‘crazy’ bride got people’s attention after she pushed boundaries with her sexual jokes at the top table, which Jono found funny.
However, Jono’ step-sister was less than impressed with her new sister-in-law. But not everyone was convinced Lauren was on the show for genuine reasons.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Anna Dunphy wrote: “Lauren ‘can’t wait’ to get to the reception so she can start drinking #MAFSAU #MAFS #MAFSAustralia.”
Lins said: “#MAFSAU I get the feeling Lauren isn’t taking this too seriously,” while Nate Ben commented: “I get the impression Lauren is being outlandish as she wants her 15 minutes of fame and a Boohoo deal #MAFSAustralia #MAFSA #MarriedAtFirstSightau #MAFSAU #MarriedatfirstsightAustralia.”
ZE wrote: “Lauren is purely here for entertainment value cos she cannot be serious. I run to red flags?! #MAFSAU.”
Ky Quince tweeted: “Lauren wanted a wedding… not a marriage #MAFSAU.” Sheels said: “Loooool Lauren waking up realising she can’t get rid of this man now the wedding is over #MAFSAU.”
Lauren and Jono headed to the mountains in Queensland for their honeymoon the day after the wedding. For Lauren, cracks were already beginning to appear as she dubbed her new husband a “nice guy”.
Lauren told Jono she felt like he was “holding back” and that she would “eat him alive”. Jono clapped back that his bride “didn’t know him” and that she needed to “stop making me out to be a p***y”.
Married At First Sight Australia continues at 7.30pm tonight on E4.
