The wedding stage was set, and guests had gathered to witness the garland exchange when an unexpected moment left everyone stunned. As the priest recited mantras and asked the bride to garland the groom, she suddenly walked past him and placed the garland around her lover instead.
The incident unfolded in seconds, leaving those present shocked and confused. Soon after, tensions escalated, with people assaulting the lover and a scuffle breaking out between the bride’s and groom’s families.
A ground report by Dainik Bhaskar revealed that the couple had been in a relationship for nearly five years. The bride had reportedly attempted to elope with him on three occasions earlier. Adding to the controversy, the two are socially regarded as siblings in their community.

The bride ran down from the stage and garlanded her lover.
Chairs thrown between groom and bride’s sides, police returned the jewelry
On the night between 27-28 April, there was a wedding ceremony in a village in Umareth police station area. There were lots of fireworks in the wedding procession. The groom’s friends danced enthusiastically. The wedding guests were welcomed well at the venue. The groom reached the stage, and after his arrival, the bride also arrived with her friends.
When it was time for the garland exchange, instead of garlanding the groom, the bride garlanded her lover. Seeing this, people were shocked. From the bride’s side, her brother was the first to beat the lover. Then the crowd joined in. Meanwhile, the lover took advantage of the situation and fled, but the groom’s side became angry due to the sequence of events.
A scuffle broke out between some people from their side and the bride’s side. They started throwing chairs at each other. When the matter reached the police station, the groom’s side refused to proceed with the wedding and demanded back the jewelry given to the bride. The police returned the items and mediated a settlement between both parties. After this, the wedding procession returned.

The groom was waiting, but the bride was hesitating to exchange garlands.
A 5-year-old love affair
When we inquired, we found out that 21-year-old Aarti (name changed) and 25-year-old Ritesh (name changed) had been in a relationship for 5 years. Aarti had previously attempted to run away from home three times. Her family consists of only her mother and brother. In such situations, whenever she would run away, her mother would file a complaint and bring her back.
Both Socially Brother-Sister
Aarti’s family was aware of the ongoing love affair with Ritesh, but since both were socially brother-sister, they were also against their marriage. Actually, in Aarti’s family, 6 deities are worshipped, while lover Ritesh also comes from a family that worships 6 deities, due to which both are socially brother-sister. Because of this, the families of both were against the marriage.
The relationship between Aarti and Ritesh was not possible. The girl’s age had also advanced, so the family members made a plan to get her married. Her marriage was fixed with Avinash (changed name). Avinash comes from a family that worships 7 deities, which is socially considered a good match for marriage. The date of 27th April was fixed for their wedding.

The bride ran away from the stage without garlanding the groom.
Groom in shock, didn’t even talk
Aarti’s family is ordinary. The relatives work as laborers. It is being said that due to this, the entire expense of this wedding was borne by Avinash’s family. The grandeur of the wedding can be gauged from the fact that the wedding was taking place in Parasiya’s biggest lawn.
Avinash’s father is retired from WCL. Avinash also looks after his ancestral farming. After whatever happened during the garland ceremony, he is so hurt that he has not come forward even for discussion. In the family too, the father has a heart condition, due to which the family has been in shock since this entire episode.

When the bride garlanded her lover, a scuffle broke out.
Lovers ostracized from society
Due to Aarti’s actions, she has been socially boycotted. Now she cannot participate in deity worship. The same has been done with her lover Ritesh. Both their families have given written letters stating that they have been separated from the family and the relatives now have no relation with them.
Both will marry, have gone to Indore for work
Even though Ritesh and Aarti have been expelled from society. Even though they may be called brother and sister socially, both are still ready to get married. People said that since that day, both have left the village and gone to Indore.
Regarding the case, the Umareth police station in-charge said – Both families did not want to file a complaint. The groom’s side had submitted an application demanding the return of items given to the bride at the wedding. Apart from this, they did not mention taking any action.
