River Exe Regatta 2024 at Starcross Yacht Club

Starcross Yacht Club hosted the dinghy and Hurricane cat racing on the Exe Estuary over the weekend 13 and 14 July. The regatta also includes cruiser racing, beach rescue, fishing, and this year sea rowing from the estuary clubs, with generous sponsorship from a number of local businesses, including the Gold sponsors Tozers, Exe Sails and Covers and Wilkinson Grant.
We had a total of 62 entries, including a slightly disappointing nine for a Scorpion open meeting run on the same courses employing two committee boats. PRO Dougal Scott employed most of the available area to set suitable courses for the different boat types.
The wind magically arrived on cue both days giving some great racing.
Prizes were presented by Charley Courtenay, Earl of Devon, starting with the winner from Kenton Primary School of the design for the prize coffee mugs.
Visitors went home well watered and fed. A warm welcome awaits guests for next year’s event on the 19-20 July 2025.
