Vitters shares update on in-build custom 63m sailing yacht Project Dreamer

by R.Donald

Dutch yard Vitters has shared an update on its custom 63-metre sloop sailing yacht Project Dreamer (hull 3096), which is currently under construction in Zwartsluis, the Netherlands.

Six months on from the yacht’s keel laying ceremony, the build of her aluminium structure is now well underway. Project Dreamer stands as an exciting challenge for the yard, with the client briefing Vitters to create “the largest flybridge yacht possible under the 500GT threshold”.

The resulting mammoth build has meant that work is being divided into several sections and undertaken upside down. The next milestone is scheduled for later this year, when Project Dreamer will have her hull turned.

Project Dreamer will be equipped with a high-performance mast and rigging package from Southern Spars, with an ultimate air draught of 77.5 metres above the waterline. She will also be fitted with a hybrid propulsion system and feature fully electric sail systems for greater control, alongside a wardrobe specified from North Sails.

The custom build is said to feature a “clean, timeless” exterior design by Malcolm McKeon, including a radiused transom and a flybridge that extends across the entire superstructure and provides both dining and lounge seating for guests. Other design features include a mid-lazarette with a fold-down hull door designed for launching water toys, and “open, flowing” interiors by Milanese studio M2Atelier, which will incorporate soft textures, natural hues and touches of greenery.

Renders of the sailing yacht remain minimal

“Project Dreamer is a perfect fit for build at Vitters Shipyard,” said Bas Peute, sales and marketing manager at Vitters Shipyard. “The yacht’s pioneering character and the requirement for exceptional technical execution could not be closer to our own ethos.”

Greg Monks, founder and director of Monks Large Yacht Consultancy and the owner’s representative, added: “Project Dreamer is rapidly transitioning from a bold concept to a sailing reality. Driven by the owner’s uncompromising vision for the extraordinary, the design evolution is pushing the boundaries of what is possible for a yacht of this size. Our collaboration with Vitters Shipyard has been seamless, ensuring that every detail is executed to world-leading precision.”

Key specs include a 10.9-metre beam and a variable draught of 4.75 to 7.3 metres. She is scheduled for delivery in 2028.

The sailing yacht’s build progresses alongside two other projects currently underway at Vitters, according to BOATPro. This includes the highly anticipated “zero fossil fuel” sailing yacht, Project Zero, also known as hull 3094.
