Dog of the Week: The latest dogs looking for their forever homes from Newbury Dogs Trust

by R.Donald

Say hello to this week’s Dog of the Week!

Every week we shine a light on one of Dogs Trust’s many furry friends that are looking for their forever home.

Meet dynamic duo Cash and Penny, a deeply bonded pair who are looking for their perfect match together.

Cash, a charming five-year-old Jack Russell Terrier x Chihuahua cross, and Penny, a delightful four-year-old Jack Russell Terrier, are looking for a new home due to their owners’ health.

These inseparable best friends share a wonderful, heart-warming bond, having even raised puppies together in the past.

They are currently staying with the charity through the Homestay Scheme and are looking for a patient family who can welcome them both with open arms.

Cash is a gentle, sensitive soul who thrives in a calm environment, while the sweet-natured Penny loves nothing more than a gentle fuss once she knows you.

Cash and Penny are looking for a specific home with the following requirements:

• An adult-only home, or one with calm, secondary-school-aged children or above who can understand canine body language and give them space when needed.

• A home with a private, secure garden where they can relax, play, and enjoy life together at a relaxed pace.

• Adopters who are prepared to use a simple visitor-management routine, as Cash can be initially unsure around unfamiliar visitors and men.

• Owners who are around for most of the day, as neither dog has much experience being left alone, meaning any time away will need to be built up very gradually.

• A family committed to continuing their positive car-training, as both can find journeys a little worrying, and happy to support Penny with ongoing treatment for a minor ear condition.

Details of Cash, Penny and other dogs available for rehoming can be found online on the Dogs Trust Rehoming website.

Visits to Dogs Trust Newbury are by appointment only.

If you would like to apply to adopt a dog, please fill in the Dogs Trust online application form and, if a match is found, the charity will arrange an appointment for you to meet them.
