These two tech gadgets were the unsung heroes of my 7-week trip

by R.Donald

After spending seven weeks on the road, I realized some of the most valuable travel companions weren’t the ones taking up the most space in my suitcase. They were the small, practical gadgets that quietly solved problems before they actually became problems.

I take A LOT of photos when I travel and edit them on my phone. I’m constantly pulling up maps and doing Google searches on the go. Oh, and I FaceTime my mom multiple times a day. This all takes up a ton of my battery.

That’s why, among all the gear I packed, two charging accessories became the unsung heroes of my journey. They made every travel day easier, from navigating unfamiliar cities and capturing photos to keeping my phone, tablet and other essentials powered up when I needed them most.

This article includes products from brands that provided samples for editorial consideration. All views expressed are entirely my own.

TESSAN

Conveniently charge your devices and the power bank itself with built-in cables and USB-C port.

TESSAN 10000mAh Portable Charger With Built-In Cables

I took this portable charger everywhere I went and it was so indispensable that I continue to throw it in my bag even when I’m just running errands at home. During a seven-week trip, relying on hotel outlets, airport charging stations and café plugs can quickly become frustrating. That’s why this charger earned its place in my bag as a daily essential.

It’s especially convenient because of its all-in-one design. Instead of carrying multiple charging cables separately, it includes built-in cables and a foldable wall plug, helping reduce the usual mess of cords inside a travel bag. And I love its slim profile.

The 10,000mAh capacity provided the extra power needed for long sightseeing days, transit days and moments when finding an available outlet wasn’t realistic. Whether checking maps, translating languages, messaging family or taking photos throughout the day, having a reliable backup battery meant less time worrying about battery percentages and more time enjoying the trip.

Another advantage was convenience. Because the charger could recharge itself through its built-in AC plug or USB-C input, it simplified the nightly charging routine. Instead of unpacking several accessories every evening, I just plugged it in, recharged it and was ready for the next day.

For travelers who want fewer cables, fewer accessories and fewer “my phone is about to die” moments, this compact power bank is the gadget you’ll find indispensable.

TESSAN

TESSAN power adapters for international travel covers over 150 countries: Type C for most of Europe Italy, Spain, France, Germany; Type G for UK, Ireland, Scotland, British; Type I for Argentina, Australia, China; Type A for Japan, USA, Mexico.

TESSAN Universal International Travel Adapter

International travel means different plugs. A universal travel adapter removes one major headache by giving travelers a single solution instead of carrying multiple plug converters.

The TESSAN Universal International Travel Adapter will become the bridge between your devices and unfamiliar outlets around the world. Designed to work across multiple regions, it supports common plug types including those used in Europe, the UK, Australia and other destinations.

Beyond simply adapting plugs, it also helped streamline charging. The adapter includes a universal AC outlet along with USB charging ports, which means multiple devices can charge from one outlet. That was a big deal since between me, my husband and our two kids, we’ve got a lot of devices to keep powered up.

One important note: This is a travel adapter, not a voltage converter. Devices should support the appropriate voltage range before being used internationally.

After seven weeks away from home, I learned that the best travel gadgets aren’t necessarily the most exciting ones, they’re the practical ones. The TESSAN portable charger and universal adapter kept my devices powered, my plans on track and my attention focused on the experience instead of the battery icon.
