New Scottish high street jewellery boutique launched

Genna Delaney had been operating from a small studio and used her jewellery-making skills as “art therapy” after bereavement.

She said: “Making jewellery was my art therapy and helped to process the grief. As I was healing, I realised that I wanted to help others who were suffering losses, through teaching jewellery classes and making meaningful pieces to remember lost loved ones.

“An opportunity came up to have a pop-up on the high street in Newport on Tay, Fife.”

Ms Delaney also said: “It was only supposed to be for three months, but I realised that I loved selling other artists work, as well as my own and connecting with the local community.

“It had always been my dream to have my own gallery but I had always been too scared to do it. However, the pop-up made me realise that I was a viable business and I needed the high street presence to grow and connect with clients.

“The other businesses on the high street were so welcoming. I loved having a space on the high street and dreamed of having a permanent space and had been manifesting for months. My dream has finally come true. The opportunity came to me, to take over Sutherlands hair and beauty.

“It has a full shop window with natural light flooding to my jewellery workshop at the back.”

She added: “I specialise in making bespoke commissions, revamping old Jewellery, jewellery repairs, teach jewellery classes and have a beautiful selection of signature collections to choose from. I am also stocking 12 other local makers with focus on small, shop local, eco, handmade businesses.”

Three loans to support housing developments in Edinburgh which will together deliver 184 homes have been completed by specialist lender Pluto Finance, which opened a Scottish headquarters last year.

Pluto declared, as it announced the completion of the loans for the three projects, that it is “committed to helping SME (small and medium-sized enterprise) builders deliver housing across Scotland”.

It said that its pipeline of new opportunities in Scotland has “grown strongly” and currently amounts to £374 million of new lending in support of 1,824 new homes.

Pluto observed this includes 271 affordable homes.
