If you have always dreamed of having Picture This play on your wedding day, it has become a reality for one lucky couple who tied the knot in Northern Ireland this week.
Picture This has been inviting couples planning their big day to apply to have them come play their popular song, “Take My Hand,” as their first dance song.
One of the most requested first dance songs at weddings, it also means a lot to the band so now they are giving back to their fans.
True to their word, they surprised one lucky couple at their Co Down wedding this week.
The move was sparked by the band’s recent surprise performance at a Cork couple’s wedding.
Tanya Cremin and her husband Chris could not believe their eyes at their wedding at Kinsale Hotel & Spa in May when the band walked in to join them at their reception.
Speaking on Cork’s RedFM Breakfast with KC, Cremin said the band arrived to play a live version of “Take My Hand,” which the pair had chosen as their first dance.
This year marks 10 years since the song was released, and it has since won several awards, including Choice Song of the Year. The track featured on their EP, which debuted at number 1 on the Irish Albums Chart for the week ending August 18, 2016.
In a video posted to their Instagram account, frontman Ryan Hennessy said: “We get probably 10 to 20 messages a day… I think it’s time we actually just go and do it for some people’s weddings.
“We’ve been ignoring you for long enough, so it’s time we come and play your first dance. If you sign up, you’re in with a chance for us to come and play ‘Take My Hand’ for your first dance at your wedding.”
In a video posted to their social media on Thursday night, the band said: “We surprised the first wedding competition winners last night in Bangor! It was a beautiful time with Caoimhin and Rachel. We’re on the road right now to surprise wedding number 2! Guess where we’re heading?”
Ryan Hennessy added: “We are in Bangor for the first wedding of five. We’re about to go in and surprise Caoimhin and Rachel. We’re very excited to surprise them. This is the first one of five, so let’s see how it goes.”
And after getting a great response from the happy couple and their guests, he added: “Well, wedding number one is done. It was amazing. Caoimhin and Rachel were very happy. We were very happy. Lovely people, lovely crowds. One down, four more to go.”
