A user by the name of @Current_Cost_1597 detailed on the r/Weddingsunder10k subreddit how she and her groom had a fairytale ceremony for just $2,500. Anyone who knows anything about modern weddings is well-aware that the events can easily hike up to five or six figures, but they don’t have to.

This woman threw an antique-style micro wedding with six guests for about $2,500, and she “couldn’t be happier.” Not only was the event intimate with plenty of “quality” time but it matched their Victorian-Edwardian theme to a tee. “Honestly (planning) didn’t feel stressful at all,” she wrote.
Current_Cost_1597 explained that they were able to use an Italianate mansion that was walking distance from their house for free. Given their small party, the owners allowed them to exchange their vows on the property for no cost. They then returned to their “beautiful historic home” for the party.

The couple collects antiques, so they were already in possession of most of their decorations. Their rings, too, were free as the bride inherited her grandmother’s antique ring for herself and they sold her grandfather’s antique ring to buy a new one for the groom.
The costs began with the bride’s dress, which was a total of $250. She bought a sample Adriana Papell fit & flare dress that was missing some buttons, had a small hole, and was too small. However, her seamstress neighbor “cut the dress in half right on me and she spent weeks turning it into a beautiful two piece corset and high-low skirt ensemble. Not traditional whatsoever and that felt perfect for me!”
As accents, she bought $300 worth of antique jewelry, including a silver Myrtle headpiece, a pearl necklace, and Victorian Figa pearl earrings. She also bought a $120 Lacemade dress for the party, as well as boots, shapewear, the groom’s shirt, vest, and tie for a total of $170, mostly from Amazon. The groom already owned the rest of his outfit, including a suit, shoes, and an antique double horseshoe pin. Her hair and makeup totaled to $180, as she didn’t buy any new products and opted for pop-on nails.
No wedding is complete without pictures, so it’s a good thing the couple’s guests were design-oriented and technologically savvy. “I fully trusted my friends with taking photos, so I had them take digital photographs, and also handed out film cameras to those that felt comfortable using them,” the bride penned, adding that she spent $120 on film and developing.

The bride made most of the appetizers, bought a couple hors d’oeuvres from a local bakery, picked up supplies for an Italian soda bar, made the cake herself, and prepared dinner for a total of about $350. Their remaining costs included $300 in florals (she used a coupon and made the arrangements herself); $400 in tables, chairs, and table decor; $160 in guest favors; and $100-200 in miscellaneous costs. She also had a secret weapon: ChatGPT, which she used to stay organized.
“Overall hugely successful wedding and it even went better than planned,” she concluded.
